Summary
“I still don’t trust you to begin a brew after you singed off James’ eyebrows when you forgot to start with water.”
“That was one time and I was sixteen.”
“That was last spring and you were barred from volatile substances for a month.” Remus mimics the pitch of Sirius’ toshy scoff with such virulent accuracy that Sirius almost drops to one knee and proposes.

Potions: love it or love to hate it, Sirius Black is a sap with an entire Christmas break to brush up on skills he needs to sharpen. If, along the way, he sweeps his favorite prefect ever further off his feet, he won’t complain about it.

Summary
“F-fuck, baby,” Remus said, eyes open wide and staring at the ceiling, feeling it like a long and drawn-out final blow. Slow motion, slow but deep, felt it in his bones, coated in that blood and his insides; it always felt like being turned inside out.
Sirius only groaned and started to suck.
And that’s the feeling that always did it—pushed Remus over that edge.

Summary
“What?” Remus murmured, the corner of his mouth turning up.
Sirius blushed and couldn’t help it. Leaned forward and listened to Remus groan again when he shifted in his lap. Their foreheads pressed together as his hands settled on Sirius’ hips.
Another whisper, “What do you want, beauty queen, huh?”
“Oh, shut up.”
“Never,” Remus mumbled when reached around, holding Sirius steady as he set his empty beer on the table. Sirius leaned back, looking at the world upside down, knowing Remus had him; he wasn't going to drop him.

Summary
Christmas and yearning.
Sirius almost says, the marble on the tip of his tongue, about how he wants him so much it’s a permanent ache; a broken rib in his chest. How he just wants Remus there, beside him. He doesn’t understand why Remus will sit next to him on his bed, year after year, and look at him the way he does — something helpless and honest but maybe just a trick of the light — only to pull away from Sirius for weeks at a time, citing studying as an excuse and leaving Sirius helplessly alone; dog left out in the cold, waiting. He keeps waiting. He pretends he isn’t.

Summary
And it’s hard to say it—the fact that he wouldn’t be here if not for an honestly quite arbitrary decision made by a hat, that had to mean something, because he could have ended up anywhere else. But then he wouldn’t have known anything about James and Peter and how they laugh, or the way Remus takes his tea, and so that had to be it.
Laughter and tea, the enormity of it. Enough to cheer up an eleven year old boy.
"There but for the grace of God go I," Remus says. When Sirius turns to him his eyes are clear, looking right back. "Something people say when they can’t tell why things aren’t worse."
or
Sirius goes to stay at the Lupins' one weekend in the summer after sixth year, gets dragged to church, mulls some things over.
