He doesn’t understand why the general smiles at him so softly, so sweetly, the corners of his mouth upturned, golden eyes crinkled at the corners with an emotion that Dan Heng believes is severely misplaced.
Even behind the metal bars in the lightless dungeon of the Shackling Prison, those bright eyes pierce through. Gold comes in many different shades, Dan Heng finds, but the amber in Jing Yuan’s eyes shines brighter and warmer than the Luofu’s artificial sun.
Dan Heng pines and overthinks for 15k words straight.
