Summary
Dean didn't deserve it. He hadn't deserved it the first time when Cas gripped him tight and raised him from perdition. He didn't deserve it the last time when Cas selflessly chose him once again and paid the ultimate price for it. And then Dean had gone and died like a month later. Christ. He really was the ultimate screw-up.
The worst part was that Cas just assumed that Dean didn't love him back. And he had every reason to. Dean had never been good to him. Not nearly as much as he deserved after everything he'd done for Dean. Because Dean was a coward. He was so cruel that his best friend's true happiness was the idea of being able to express his love without the fear of what the consequences would be. Dean hated himself for a lot of reasons, but he hated himself most for letting Cas die without ever hearing that he was loved. And now Dean was dead, and Cas was alive. And he wanted nothing to do with Dean.

When they stayed close, when he seemed happy to see them at his games, to have her managing his career, when he seemed not only to love them, but to still like having them around… When he invited her for dinner with his boyfriend and the four of them laughed until the summer sun dropped below the lake, she thought maybe this was one challenge of parenthood she would be spared. Which makes the day it finally happens all the harder to bear.

“So let me get this straight,” Arthur said, folding his fingers together as the man in front him awkwardly shifted. “You are under the impression if you win the favor of my servant that you will then win my favor?” he asked and the nobleman shifted again.
“Well, sire,” he said “That is the common consensus among… the chatter.”
“The chatter,” Arthur repeated and his mind flashed to all the kindness Merlin had received from other nobles. Dear God.
Or
Merlin has all of Camelot (and neighboring kingdoms) wrapped around his finger and Arthur is beginning to resign himself to the fact his servant somehow has more power than he does.

Summary
Shane is in a post-game interview when his world stops.
He’s just answered a question about Montreal’s offensive strategy going into the game. Clean passes, avoid penalties, draw defenders wide. It had worked and the Voyagers had beat Colorado soundly, 4-1. Shane had scored two of the goals and assisted on a third.
Usually, Shane would be eager to boast about the win to Ilya. But ever since their fight- since Ilya told Shane to leave- winning feels hollow. Losing feels better, somehow. As if Shane deserves to lose after being so selfish. Ilya gave up everything for him- his home, his team, and to some extent- his happiness. Hockey. Ilya gave up hockey- good hockey- for Shane.
A ripple goes through the room of reporters. Shane swears he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘crash’. But no one is paying attention to him anymore.
“What’s going on?” he asks into the microphone, feeling strange at the role reversal. Usually, he’s the one being asked questions.
No one answers. And this time he knows that he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘Centaurs’.
