Summary
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are the star players of McGill’s hockey team. They are also roommates. Shane is determined to finish his degree in exercise science. Ilya is a senior transfer, seeking a fresh start after things went south in Toronto. He’s boisterous, loud, and charismatic— everything Shane isn’t.
The program has a longstanding tradition: captaincy is awarded at training camp by a vote among the senior players. Shane has been the presumptive captain since his arrival. But Coach Wiebe has a rule: the captain has to be someone the whole team can play with. After a disastrous training camp, he isn’t totally convinced that Shane’s the right guy for the job. He presents an ultimatum: Shane won’t get the captaincy and Ilya won’t get promoted to the first line until they demonstrate they can function as linemates.
Shane Hollander wants the captaincy. Which means he somehow has to find a way to tolerate Rozanov.
Ilya Rozanov needs to be on the first line. His hope of staying out of Russia relies on being drafted to the NHL.
The only problem? Ilya had stupidly agreed to a celibacy bet for the first semester, and now he can’t stop thinking about boring Hollander with his stupid freckles.
