Summary
Dennis Whitaker has always been good at not-thinking about things. The way Robby says Abbot's name. The current in a room when both of them are in it. The fact that he has, apparently, developed feelings for not one but two attendings, which is a disaster by any reasonable metric.
Then Abbot comes back from three weeks away, finds Dennis alone in the break room at three in the morning, and answers the question Dennis didn't mean to ask out loud.
Yes.

Summary
The world is full of black and white and grey. He misses the color at times, but it’s not as if he’ll ever get to see it again. He relies on descriptions from Emerald to paint a picture of the world around him and if she ever wonders why he asks about colors, she doesn’t say anything about it. It’s the closest thing to caring that he’ll ever get to with her.
Life is bland, dull, boring, but it’s life and that’s more than he could say he had when he was stuck in Hell with Marcus. Turning everything off was easier to live with. Easier to maintain.
But everything always seemed to come back to bite him right on the ass.

Between the gruesome corpses and the quiet, unsettling doctor Cullen who shows up like a statue in pressed slacks, lying through his teeth, Charlie’s got more questions than answers—and no one seems too keen on giving him either.
Charlie’s trying not to notice how his breath catches when the doc gets too close. He’s also trying not to notice how the bodies keep piling up, unsolved. Neither effort is going particularly well.
And if one more person tells him it was a bear, he’s going to shoot something. Probably not a bear.
