That clock only really exists to wake up Mr. Phoenix Wright at eight o’clock sharp, who is currently rubbing his eyes and staring at Miles like he’s a very strange occurrence. Which, to be fair, is true. Miles should have been at his office almost two hours ago.
(Why? To brew his tea and get ready for the day, of course. And to actually start working. He starts at seven. Being a high prosecutor is no joke. You’d think he’d be able to make his own schedule by now, but alas.)

So on the rare days like this, where A-Yuan comes to him with puffy eyes and disheveled robes, Lan Wangji does not ask questions when he ushers the teenager into the Jingshi. He simply walks him towards the bed, letting him sit on the edge.
