Summary
Jabber tilted back, effortless and fluid, letting the punch sail past with a cheer. “Aww, come on, Mr. Bad Attitude,” he drawled, voice teasing, eyes glinting with mischief. “You really gonna throw hands at me over a little pet name? Gotta say, I love it when you get like this.”
Zanka just stared at him. Fingers twitching.
Jabber leaned forward just slightly, letting the faintest whiff of tobacco and spice drift into Zanka’s senses, a deliberate provocation. “You’re tense,” he observed casually, eyes narrowing as if reading right through the carefully maintained facade. “You had one of those nightmares, huh?”
“None of yer fucking business.”

Summary
“What, you gonna call daddy to come beat me up?” Dreads mocks him, sticking out his bottom lip in an exaggerated pout.
Zanka feels the anger bubble up inside him at the comment, hot and cloying as it courses through his veins—and decides he needs to go home, right now, or someone’s getting punched. “Fuck you. I’m leavin’.” Then he turns on his heel to march to the back door of August’s house.
“Yeah, call your limo, pretty boy!”
Okay. That’s enough.
Zanka turns back around, cocks his arm back, and decks the guy in the face.
Or, alternatively: How the meet-ugly of the goddamn century catapults newly broke college student Zanka Nijiku head-fucking-first into the strangest, weirdest, most evilly convoluted situationship of his life.

Zanka clutches his jacket and yanks it open, pulling it down so Jabber’s chest is exposed to him. “Y’don’t get to forget me that quickly,” he says, “Y’don’t get to throw me aside when I haven’t proven myself yet.”
Jabber opens his mouth, and Zanka stabs the tip of the blade into his skin.
Jabber’s lost interest in Zanka after he fails to live up to his expectations. Zanka refuses to be forgotten, and leaves his mark in a way Jabber can never erase

“Way to blow your chance, man.” Jabber said and crossed his arms.
Zanka couldn’t hold back his chuckle at that as slumped back into his seat. Jabber had said it so gravely, as if Zanka would be waiting with baited breath for space debris to crash through the atmosphere and catch fire again.
“Just not the wishin’ type, I guess.”
Zanka’s never been one much for superstition. He’s just not that kind of guy. So it must be the atmosphere—the cheesy music and the stubborn cold and the residual smell of apple pie—that has him wishing on a star.

Summary
The first line addresses the recipient, but the name had been scored out so harshly Zanka can feel the indents through the back with a pass of his thumb. The first word is most certainly Dear, and he can just about make out an a and what falls between an m and an n in the next one, but anything else is a lost cause.
My name has an a at the start, his thoughts supply, there's an n next to that.
His rational side doesn't bother to brush it off as a simple coincidence, and he feels his heart stammer in his chest.
After leaving his window open to sleep, a mysterious love letter finds its way into Zanka's hands. The name of whoever it's addressed to is unintelligible, but that doesn't stop him from getting his hopes up, especially when the contents start to sound strikingly similar to Jabber's words from the past.

For someone who spent as much time on his phone as he did, he seemed to have surprisingly little idea about what actually moved and interested his fans.
“I can’t believe it,” Ann giggled. “Like you haven’t had enough rumours flying around about yourself already.”
“Mh, yeah,” Akira agreed, half-heartedly.
If he was being honest, he didn’t mind those rumours at all. He didn’t mind the subtle tweets, posted in conspiratorial tones as people tried to figure out who the mysterious, pretty boy next to Akechi Goro was. Was he a friend? A never-before-seen brother? God forbid, a date?

Akechi gapes at him—his mouth drops open, his brows knit all the way together.
“You haven’t?”
“We’re teenagers. That’s normal.” Akira frowns, trying not to think about this handsome, worldly guy that Akechi wants to be with. It’s fine, he thinks, it was just a half-formed crush. More of an idea, really. “I get it, though. I wish there was a way to practice.”
The hallway feels smaller and smaller as each word leaves his mouth. A way to practice. They look at each other for a long moment, communicating through their heavy gaze. The temperature rises, and Akira knows that they’re both having the same thought.
(Or: The boys strike a deal. Also, Akechi's 'handsome, worldly crush' may not be as far away as Akira thinks he is.)

Kurusu looked down, his face as usual perfectly reined in, then up to Goro. A picture of perfect, stunned innocence.
“Your autograph session announcement?” he asked. “I know you think you’re some kind of big deal, but I think I’m good. Thanks for the offer, though.”
Goro’s ears were ringing. Behind Kurusu, he heard Takamaki and Sakamoto giggle. He would tear them all limb from limb, Phantom Thief for Phantom Thief.
“I didn’t announce an autograph session,” he said through gritted teeth. “You did.”
When Goro reports the new delinquent kid at school for bringing his cat to classes, he takes petty revenge on him.

And that was how he found himself standing in a corridor full of a dozen blooming bouquets in various colours, overwhelmed and unsure what to do with all these... flowers.
Someone sends Goro flowers anonymously. Akira happens to work in a flower shop.

Akechi takes the cigarette out of his mouth, exhaling smoke. It burns the back of his throat, in a way that he can’t quite describe as pleasurable, but it leans enough in that direction for him to do it again. “Smoking kills, Kurusu.” He says, smiling in some strange combination of the smile he uses for TV, and the smirks he’d wear when he knows he’s alone. “You’d think the great leader of the Phantom Thieves would care about his health more.”
Kurusu barks a laugh, and something is off about it, the way it sounds bitter and contemptuous. “Yeah,” He replies, taking a drag. “You would.”
That’s… a loaded statement.
OR: Goro Akechi and Akira Kurusu take a smoke break after a long day at Sae's Palace.

Two years since the re-set of reality, Goro is truly is living as freely as one can. Which means staying far away from Akira. His rival, his comparison point, his may have been friend, his may have been...well, it’s no use living in what could have been. Goro needs to be able to move on from all that occurred, cut off the pathways which drew him to destruction and almost killed him several times over.

actually incredible. extremely well written. every word, every sentence, every paragraph has so much emotion in it uzgghh.
the story 10/10. amazing. made me cry. especially the mirror part. Akira just naming everything that he is. every part of him that makes him HIM. oh mane.
loved the writing on every character, not only goro and Akira, but also the thieves. the relations between them too (especially goro and the thieves. i love when people put goro in these situations where he's with the phantom thieves without akira/joker.)
