Hua Cheng carefully lifts the lid of the box. “Gege, I can assure you, I’ll—”
He pauses. Inhales sharply. Stares down at the contents of the box, eye roving over the gentle curve of the object nestled within. “Gege,” he says in a punched-out voice.
Inside, pillowed on a bed of red silk, is a small object carved out of glossy black jade. It’s a bit shorter than Hua Cheng’s hand, and it flares at the base, narrowing into a conical shape with a rounded tip.
A plug. Xie Lian had given him a plug.

Xie Lian hums noncommittally, then pauses. He makes a second humming noise, this one lilting with contemplation. “...What if I had a way for you to pay attention to me while still letting me work?”
Hua Cheng arches his brow. “What do you have in mind, gege?”
And that’s how he finds himself on his knees under the table, his head hidden beneath Xie Lian’s robes as he settles his chin between his husband’s thighs.
