It isn’t that Viktor has no faith in Jayce — they’ve been partners for three years, and Viktor had taken a chance on him, mere moments after meeting him for the first time — but Viktor is a child of Zaun, no matter how far he might roam from her chem-stained streets. There is no one Viktor truly trusts at his back, for fear that they might be the one to drive the knife into it.
Viktor and Jayce attend a gala together. It goes well, until it doesn't.
