Albus leans over her shoulder. “Is that-”
“James Potter. Yes.”
“Sitting at the Slytherin table.”
“Indeed.” she agrees, taking a careful sip of her tea.
Albus hums, settling back into his seat.
She continues watching as James reaches over, swiping a slice of half-eaten toast from Regulus’ plate and taking a grossly large bite out of it.
Regulus, true to his nature, swats James over the head and then proceeds to lean closer to the older boy in order to readjust his tie. James lets him, as if this is a practiced thing between them – perhaps it is. And, when Regulus then steals his breakfast back from the boy, James moves to plant a kiss to the poor Slytherin’s cheek.
“How long has that been going on?” Albus suddenly pipes up again, speaking around a mouthful of toast because, whilst he may be the Headmaster, he has no shame.
Minerva scoffs at him, something that goes either unnoticed or ignored by her friend. “How should I know, Albus?”
He shrugs. “You have your ways.”

Summary
Before Hogwarts, the Black brothers used to share everything, and leave the rest of the world outside. But when Sirius leaves for school, the world seems to come between them, no matter how much Sirius would like to take Regulus with him into his new life.
Regulus should be jealous of his brother's new best friend, but can't bring himself to hate him. James can't help but love the younger Black, and Sirius just wants to steal Regulus away from their pathetic excuse for a home. Can they save Regulus in time, or is the world going to separate Black brothers for good?
The story starts from 1971, and is going to be a long one, following Sirius, Regulus, James and Remus through their school years and Wizarding War I. It's going to be canon compliant in the beginning, but not for too long.

“桔 is tangerine in Mandarin, the written of it contains a character from 吉, which is luck. But the basics of it is that it sounds like lucky words so they eat it, ‘cus, y’know, you’ll inhibit the luck or whatever.” Regulus sort of stumbles through his explanation, even though this is probably his favourite topic because he turns his head and sees James beaming at him and all he can think about is tangerines and their luck and how sweet they taste on his lips. But when James looks at him with the brightness that he does, eyes staring into his own heart, Regulus understands why he keeps stuttering through his words. Because he can’t help the way the orange peel wraps itself around his lungs and puts nothing but redolence in his bloodstream.
Regulus celebrates his first Lunar New Year on his own.
