Summary
Both Bruce Wayne and The Batman survived The Riddler. Trying to be them both wasn't easy, but Bruce was beginning to realize he didn't have to figure how to all on his own. A series of isolated moments, not necessarily in chronological order, in Bruce's relationships when he realized he didn't have to survive merely on spite and stale-fumes.

Summary
After Jason, there were rules. No more children. No more promises that could shatter. They were done. For Selina, that meant building walls around a heart that had already broken too many times. For Bruce, it meant drowning his grief in the shadows of Gotham's endless night.
It was a shame neither of them were good at following rules, even if it were their own, and that they both shared a bad habit of collecting strays.
(Or: the story of how Bruce and Selina came to adopt Cass, and how they chose each other again along the way.)

“Is a bowl of rice and soft-boiled egg a nutritious meal?”
“What?” says Batman, pausing.
Catwoman tilts her head and he quickly goes back to securing her handcuffs before she gets any ideas. “I just think there should be a vegetable.”
“...There’s a lot of protein in it. Maybe add an avocado.”
“That’s what I thought,” she agrees, and then knees him in the groin.
“Ough,” says Bruce, and immediately begins mentally redesigning his reinforced cup.
“Thanks, Batman!” she calls over her shoulder as she deftly grapples away across the rooftop, whip clutched in both cuffed hands. -
