In the mid-1930s, New Orleans was plunged into carnage. A series of inexplicable serial murders piled up in police records. Different victims. Vague motives. A subtle tremor had crept into the city’s order, and unfortunately, the rot had already gnawed its way to the core, waiting for the day the ancient roots would finally give way.
Amidst the morning clamor and the nightmarish visions that gripped the citizens at sundown, Alastor’s familiar voice pulsed steadily through the airwaves: suave, charismatic, and impeccable.
Perhaps the shadow stalking him was merely one of the monsters he himself had fashioned. Or perhaps, from the very start, this entire hunt had been engineered to lead him to a single soul.
The man who arrived with a proposal of partnership.
The man who always appeared at the perfect moment.

Summary
Alastor doesn’t pull his hand away, in spite of how he’d very much like to.
Typically—this is a game reserved for a disgusting pig of a white man that he’s been stalking for a few weeks now, at the bare minimum. Perhaps a few months, even. He’s not certain this one qualifies yet to be on the main list, but he does tick all of the preliminary boxes. He’d make for terrible prey, though, Alastor sadly notes. A high profile white man from New York that has come down to specifically chase after him? No, no, that won’t do. He can’t kill this man. It would fall back onto him immediately.
Buuuut, he is still having a bit of fun, laying out a few honey traps here and there, for whatever reason. Just in case.

Green smoke and blinding sparks erupted around them as their more primal, demonic form distorted their features, and when this part of the deal got sealed and everything returned to normalcy - did it, though? In 1933 Alastor manages to summon a demon with a rectangular, glowing head who keeps staring at him like he can't decide between tearing him apart and worshipping him at his feet.
Meanwhile, Vox just blew up himself and the entire universe and suddenly stands before a second chance. He simply has no idea what that second chance entails.
In other words: The demon Vox and human Alastor time travel roadtrip fic that spiralled and suddenly gained a plot
