“I didn’t even agree to this arrangement,” she reminded him and herself too, if she was being honest.
Malfoy stepped closer, caging her against the desk like their first time in the old office. He pulled her bag from her shoulder and put it with his on top of the desk. There was a smirk slowly growing on his lips, his eyes darkening some as he stared at her lips and then her eyes. His large warm hand landed on her cheek, fingers slightly curling on the hairs on the back of her neck. When he spoke, his voice was quiet once more, all mirth gone but just the slightest bit of teasing remaining.
“I think you have, Ginevra.”

Sakura got up and didn’t bother brushing the dirt from her dress. She had a feeling she was about to get even dirtier.
She looked at the memorial stone one last time, memorizing the characters without even realizing she was doing it. It would serve from that moment on as a reminder of her determination. She wouldn’t let Naruto and Sasuke join the names carved on that stone.
That was her nindo.

Kate survived.
Somehow she kept on doing that. She had never been the strongest or the smartest or even the prettiest back in Bethel but now as she stood beneath the scorching sun of a nameless town in southern Texas, Kate knew that she had survived for a reason. Maybe it was because she was resourceful. Maybe she did it by sheer willpower and stubbornness. What mattered was that when Kate finally got her feet back under her and pushed herself off the desert floor, she didn't falter.
Kate rubbed her hands on her face to get rid of her tears, ended up smearing blood and dirt in the process, and started walking towards the setting sun.

Confronted with living in close quarters and having to adjust to a different dynamic, Buffy finds herself coming to terms with the changes Spike is attempting to make in himself. Meanwhile, Spike is struggling with those changes, but knows he can't stop loving her. All the while, there's still a Hell God out there, and they'd both die to protect Dawn.
Both Buffy and Spike know this won't end well, they just have no idea what that will look like.

Thanks to some research done by Anya, the escape in Spiral is to a different dimension, where hopefully they should be safe from Glory’s all-powerful grasp until the window for the apocalypse passes. But trying to get home will be another matter altogether, in a world where humans are slaves, vampires undergo peculiar transformations, and Cordelia Chase is the messiah. Reuniting with old friends doesn’t guarantee things will get any easier, especially if their enemies also team up to maintain the status quo. What does it mean to be The Key? How many regimes will Buffy overthrow? Is there no place like home?

Or: The thing about Willow's will-be-done spell is that, yeah, obviously it sucks that it happened with Spike. But now that all those totally fake lovey-dovey feelings are gone, Buffy is starting to worry that she'll never get them back—with anyone.
