Messy hair from a romp in the car, a collar pulled up too high on one side, a nasty bite that probably needed disinfectant hidden, and ash falling from a lit cigarette lost between seats as Evan sighed and begged for more.
At a club with the music too loud, sliding a drink across the bar.
Barty’s head would always turn, a perpetual swivel.
Round and round until one day it fell off, to the sight of the one he loved sitting on their couch, slumped over an arm, thumbing through the movie channels.

“Let me try.” Slouching against the sofa, Sirius grinned, his legs spread wide. “There once was a redhead named Lily, who made young James Potter act silly! She jinxed him with bats and bogeys and rats, but James only thought with his willy!”
Remus threw a cushion at Sirius’ face.
The summer of '76. Remus wants Sirius. Sirius doesn't know what he wants.

He started sitting on the hills out past Greenhouse Six, the dew-damp hills with all the half-crushed and deeply sodden dandelions, just him and a spliff and the layer of low-hanging, early morning fog turning the sun into an apricot (all fuzz), and now he is not alone because Sirius is standing before him, short and lithe and incandescent, jaw clenched, an earring in the shape of a dagger cutting through the soft meat of his lobe.
“Here,” he says. He is thrusting a bottle of muggle coke at Remus: red label, brown fizz sloshing against the curves.
“This moment is fake,” Remus says.
“Shove over, Descartes,” Sirius says.
