Summary
At twenty-eight, Remus Lupin is content with his life.
He has a stable job as a researcher in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, a comfortable flat filled with books, and a close-knit group of friends he sees whenever their increasingly complicated adult schedules allow. It's not an exciting life. But it's a good one.
Then a series of impossible magical incidents begins occurring across Britain. Entire wizarding homes are disappearing overnight. The Ministry is baffled. When Remus is assigned to investigate the phenomenon, he's paired with Senior Auror Sirius Black, his best friend since Hogwarts. Sirius has always occupied a unique place in Remus's life, closer than family and more than best friends.
As the investigation deepens, the two are forced to spend more time together than they have in years. Long days become late nights. Old feelings begin surfacing in ways Remus is not prepared to acknowledge. To solve the mystery, Remus and Sirius will have to uncover what connects the stolen houses, confront the things they've spent years avoiding, and figure out why the idea of home has always felt incomplete. -
