Summary
He ponders. Turns the thought over in his mind for a minute, dissects the truth of it and then spits out the answer that it doesn't matter. It’s a secret. It is, it is, and so why it is – how it is – doesn't matter.
There is a new star in the sky, He thinks, burn bright, burn long, do not be seen. Do I exist if people do not know I do?
He takes a breath, feels how the fabric of his shirt moves as his chest rises, feels how it settles when he exhales.
Do I exist if people do not know I do?

Summary
Finally, something dawns on him, a way to handle two goals simultaneously. He’d seen Hollander’s mother flipping through papers rapidly when they first got here, seeming calm and in control and more than a little frightening in a way that made Ilya mildly glad he wasn’t one of the people responsible for a clipboard. If anyone can tell him if the long list of “Prohibited Items” he’d been sent in his email a few days ago is just standard practice for big shoots, it would be Yuna Hollander.
Or, hopefully, her son.
“Crazy we cannot even have peanut butter, eh?” He asks. “You also got giant list?”
Hollander stiffens, almost imperceptibly, and Ilya tilts his head, just slightly, confused, wondering if he’s stumbled somewhere unexpected.
(how ilya learns about shane's allergies) (and shane's sexual awakening tragically hits a speedbump in the process 😔)

Summary
“Uh,” he says, looking up from his screen and feeling his ears go hot, realizing for the first time that this habit of his hasn’t actually come up before until this exact moment.
“What?” Rozanov asks, sounding more amused than anything else. “You are one of the people who does Instagram for food now?”
“No,” Shane says, stalling between answering and finishing his Snap so he can send it to Melissa, “one sec.” He finishes typing out 'Tuna melt. Chips. Pickles. It smells really good. Swiss cheese, I think.' before he looks back to Rozanov, putting his phone facedown on the coffee table. “Just sending it to someone on the staff. She likes knowing what I’m eating.”
He doesn’t know if Melissa likes knowing what he’s eating, per se, but she also seems pleased when he talks about enjoying food for things beyond how many grams of protein it has in it.
“Ah,” Rozanov says, in a tone Shane can’t quite read. “You always send her your food then, this girl?”
(shane has a habit of sending his team's dietician his meals for approval) (the problem with this habit? he forgets to tell ilya exactly what it is that melissa does) (how the tuna meltdown is AVERTED through the power of miscommunication)

Summary
Both of them are there the next time Shane wakes up about an hour later, and this time he opens his eyes, rasps Mom?
The room fills quickly, a flurry of nurses coming to check vitals and adjust his IV, the doctor stepping in to conduct all of the mandatory concussion protocol. Shane grunts and groans every time he has to move his sore body but otherwise complies as he always does, sitting through the basic questions and the light shining in his eyes. He’s up just long enough to finish those and to get something in him to eat, and just after Yuna and David both manage to sneak in tearful, relieved hugs, he’s slipping back into sleep once again.
Normal, they keep saying. This is all perfectly normal.
But there’s something, Yuna thinks—something here that she’s missing.

Summary
It’s not a big deal. Shane gets a new watch from his Rolex sponsorship. They want him to promote it for Valentine’s Day.
It’s a fine watch. They always are. It has a second face, ticking away inside the larger one. He can set it to a different timezone, so he always knows what time it is somewhere else.
He sets it a lot nowadays.
…
Or - Five times Hayden notices something is up with Shane’s fancy watch, and one time he knows better.
