Almost 30,000 words of F/K kink negotiation; what's not to love?
I'm as much a sucker for first time stories as the rest of this fandom, but what I love about this fic is that it's about what comes next, and it's not afraid to make that complicated and difficult at times. Really well-written (and hot!) sex scenes, but with a rarer focus on a relationship in which the sex isn't a seamless or simple thing that just happens perfectly or effortlessly at first.

This is probably my absolute favorite Miss Fisher story ever. Totally delightful, perfectly in-character, and ranges from hilarious to sweet to wonderfully intense by the end. Long live Miss Fisher's Big Happy Poly Family!
And also, Jack/Hugh! Almost NOBODY writes Jack/Hugh, which (as this fic proves) is a damn shame.

This was one of the first stories I read after finishing due South for the first time and OH MY GOD I just love it, and could reread it pretty much endlessly. There's a reason it's a classic in the fandom.
It's a particular challenge, I think, to really nail the tone of the show once you get the characters out of Chicago, so I'm just so impressed by the worldbuilding here; this tiny town and its inhabitants are wonderfully vivid and specific. And ouch, what a painfully effective evocation of intense loneliness- it would be hard to read if not for the hard-earned happy ending...
