    Summary

    Dennis takes a deep breath in to calm himself, but as he breathes out, he confesses, “Trinity made a bet with Samira that I could get anyone in the bar to buy me a drink because I kind of have a knack for it, but Samira chose you, and now they’re watching us, and I’m so sorry.”

    His boss blinks at him a couple of times, probably figuring out the least problematic way to fire him or berate him for being so damn unprofessional. He should’ve just said no to Trinity and Samira and killed the vibes for the night; he’d prefer that to whatever Robby is about to say. He can already see the anger bubbling up inside him that’s going to—

    “I’ll buy you a drink.”

    Dennis stares at him, unblinking. After a few seconds, he manages to ask, “What?”

    “I’ll buy you a drink,” Robby repeats, then leans over to pat the bar stool next to him. “But you’re going to have to earn it.”

    -:-:-:-:-:-

    Or, Dennis tries every trick in the book to get Dr. Robby to buy him a drink and to stay.

    Summary

    There’s no real rationale to what Dennis asks next. His brain is overloaded with new information, which piles onto his already spiraling conundrum of attempting to explore his own sexuality. It causes a deadly concoction. The result?

    “Can you kiss me?”

    It’s blurted out with zero thought. An accumulation of I want to kiss a man that I trust and I trust Doctor Robby, followed by he has the experience, so he’ll know what to do.

    The request shocks them both. Robby sits up straight, eyes widening and cheeks definitely flushing, Dennis is sure of it this time. He doubts he looks any better, slack-jawed and burning impossibly hot as his shoulders tighten up so high that he’s sure they’re reaching his ears.

    OR

    Dennis realizes he may not be straight after Amy kisses him. In an effort to find answers, he finds himself asking for Robby's help.

    Summary

    Dennis thought it might just be one last pep talk, a little reassurance before Robby disappears off the face of the earth for the next three months. Instead, Robby said, and now repeats, “I need you to keep an eye on Dr. Abbot for me.”

    Dennis points a finger at his chest, eyes doubling in size. “Me? You want me to… why?”

    Or...

    After the Fourth of July shift from hell, Robby assigns Dennis one last task before leaving on sabbatical: keep an eye on Jack Abbot. What starts as a favour to Robby very quickly develops into an unlikely friendship between the night shift attending and PTMC's newest intern. But what happens when the pair both start catching feelings? Is Jack ready to move on from his late wife? Is Dennis prepared for what all a relationship with Jack would entail?

    Well, they have three months to figure it out.

    Summary

    Abbot lifted his head to look down at her. “See, that’s the post-traumatic stress. Something happens that your brain decides is a life or death situation. You have a massive adrenaline kick while it’s all happening, and then when it’s bleeding out of you on the comedown, your brain throws out anything that’s not completely vital. The amount of car crash patients we have who don’t even remember coming to the ER when they submit requests for their medical records for insurance… the brain’s a weird thing, Mohan.”

    “Yeah,” she said, shooting him a look out of the side of her eyes. “It can even make you convinced you have to hurt yourself in order to seek external validation when the most logical course of action is rest.”

    He snorted softly, shaking his head and leaning it back. “God,” he muttered, his cheeks stained pink. “Robby was right. You should have gone into psych.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A night shift from hell ends in Mohan giving Abbot a ride back to his place, where tensions finally boil over.
