Summary
Will Graham is an FBI profiler with an empathy that allows him to get into the mind of the killers he tracks. Suffering from a mental illness and severe stress from being overworked, Will copes with a prescription drug addiction and sexual promiscuity.
He meets Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist who is initially tasked with evaluating him. The two quickly develop a sexual relationship marked by mutual attraction, manipulation, and psychological games, creating a toxic bond that deepens over time.This entire work is fanfiction and therefore does pull from the Hannibal TV show. I do not own these characters or the main storyline, and I do not profit from this work. Aside from the source material, this is written by me. I do use AI in the editing process for spotting punctuation, spelling, grammar, and passive voice errors. If you would like to beta read for me so I don’t have to rely on AI, let me know.
This is my first fic in 15 years. I used to write fics over on a little site called livejournal (who remembers that one?) I’ve decided to start writing again as a creative outlet, hope I still got it!

There is a visible difference if one looks closely enough. He notices it in the mirror first, then in Will’s gaze. The color changes. The tightness loosens. The ache becomes specific, then localized, then forgettable. Close enough to kiss, even. Hannibal frequently gets that close. He allows Will to get closer still. Because Will wants to look, and Hannibal gives.

If there was anything tender and fleeting underneath the hunger, it did not translate into their encounters. They didn’t even kiss. It was little more than mating and felt like fighting for survival.
Will ends their arrangement because he wants something more. Hannibal just wants him back. But getting him back might require a change of heart - or a change in tactics.

His voice is low and dark, almost authoritative—a silent command as he gazes at the other man.
He swallows, trying to keep control as he feels his chest tighten at the sight of Will stepping closer. He's not used to feeling this kind of vulnerability, this kind of lack of control, and it's both terrifying and intoxicating all at once. It takes every last bit of self-discipline to not just grab him by the jacket and pull him flush against his body… and when Will comes to stand in front of him, he can see the desire mirrored in the other man's eyes.
