When Arthur pulls a half-drowned woman out of the Dakota River, he also puts the nastiest gang he’s ever known on his trail. In spite of the risk, Arthur is determined to get this stranger to safety.
Problem is, his feelings for her may be the biggest danger of all.
After a journey through wolves and snow, and with the gang closing in, Arthur has to decide whether protecting her means staying or walking away forever.
All he knows is that he made her a promise, and he means to keep it.

She was the first person he'd witnessed, but she wasn't the last, and as Arthur grew up, more and more people would join her. They never did anything other than stare.
