Izuku opened the door, ready to give whoever was furiously knocking stern talking to. His eyes went wide. “Whacchan?!”
“Izuku!” Katsuki said, looking more disheveled than Izuku had ever seen him, “I fucked up!”
“What? Kacchan, what—”
His next words were cut off by the loud wailing of a baby.
The two of them froze.
Izuku slowly looked into the hallway and saw a chubby, very angry looking baby in a bright pink stroller.
“Oh,” Izuku said.
The baby screamed in response.

“Because if I had been just one fucking minute faster you wouldn’t need that stupid monitor or the aids!” Izuku raised his voice, turning to look at Katsuki with tears streaming down his face. “I ruined your life because I wasn’t fast enough!” His voice cracked worse than it has this whole exchange. The emotion weighing on him couldn’t be put into words, and when he tried, his voice cracked and his vision blurred. “How could you love me after that?”
“Me loving you has nothing to do with that. Even if you had been ‘fast enough’,” he gave air quotes around ‘fast enough’, “even if it was your fault, which it isn’t, it wouldn’t change how I feel about you in the slightest. You could’ve ripped my heart out with your own two hands, and I would still be as devoted to you as the day I first laid eyes on you. In every universe, including this one, you’re my person, and you always will be.”

Mae Midoriya didn’t seem concerned about the fact that they were tumbling towards the ground, hundreds of feet above the Hudson river. She watched Katsuki with interest as he launched himself towards her. She made grabby hands at him as the hero scooped her up, then said excitedly in his ear: “Kacchan!”
Wincing at the sound, he cradled her in one arm and used the other one to start to lower them towards the earth. “Yeah, it’s me. It’s been a while.”
“Daddy said you were the best hero, so I need your help!”
Raising an eyebrow, he muttered, “What about, kid?”
“He told me you’d protect me if I was in danger,” she said with conviction, making eye contact as she stated bluntly, “You need to take care of me until he gets back!”
