Shizuo does not hesitate. He does not think. In the heartbeat between seeing Izaya teetering on the edge and not seeing Izaya on the edge, Shizuo’s body moves, throwing itself across and off the building after him. It is only when he is falling, tamping down on the scream that threatens to rip itself out of his lungs, that he scrapes together a single coherent thought: fuck!
The building is tall, but gravity is a force to be reckoned with, and, of course, there is nothing he can really do to help Izaya in midair. He keeps his eyes open as long as he can, even as they water, and as he careens toward a premature death, he picks out the smudge that is Izaya below him, falling with his face to the sky. To Shizuo.
Shizuo cannot see him, but he catches the glint of his teeth as Izaya laughs.
His second (and possibly last ever) thought: I’m going to kill this guy.

“Really? If I walked out right now, you wouldn’t come after me?” Scaramouche gets to his feet, walks over to the rug so that he’s looking at the wall and not at Childe. He knows he’s being immature and petty, but that’s never stopped him before. He’s half-tempted to go over and get his hat, just for full effect.
“Yeah,” comes Childe’s response. “I wouldn’t. I’d miss you, though.”
After his stint in Liyue and learning of the wide world beyond Harbinger duties, Childe takes his family and runs, leaving behind Snezhnaya, the Tsaritsa, and Scaramouche, who finds out (after Childe breaks into his house) that Teucer’s been taken as a warning. What ensues is nothing short of a series of events that Scaramouche would very desperately like to forget—if not for the fact that Childe looks infinitely happier than he ever did in Zapolyarny.
