“Oh no.” Dandelion tsks, looking back at the vanity to see if he’d packed a brush that might hold up through this. They hadn’t seen Yennefer in months, if not nearing a full year. That is too long to go without brushing your hair when you are a witcher who gets twigs and gunk and sometimes doesn't bathe as often as might be needed. “I’ll be taking over her job for tonight it seems. You should’ve told me sooner because these knots will take forever to get out.”

“I think he’s hiding something from us.”
“Now what makes you say that?” Zevran rolls his eyes as if the sweet sarcasm coating his voice wasn’t obvious. The Warden huffs. They tug the fistful of hair in their grip, though Zevran seems more pleased than reprimanded. They go for the sensitive tip of his ear instead. He yelps, soft and breathy. His hand comes up to tangle with theirs, squeezing to encourage them to continue their thought. A promise he won't’ interrupt.
“Something important,” they elaborate after a pause, “Like his father. Something he thinks will change the way we treat him, see him. It came up somehow and made him uncomfortable enough to leave rather than mention it. He doesn’t trust me, even though I reacted okay after learning that he’s a bastard.”
“And what will you do?”
“I’m not sure. Give him the chance to talk about it, I suppose. I don’t want to make him uncomfortable.”

“Is that,” The Warden pauses, doubtfully, “a compliment?”

“I’ve not learned it.” The Warden hums up at Sten towering above them. They return to sharpening their dagger when Sten has no reply to their joke. The firelight isn’t quite as good as sunlight to hone the edge, but it’s grown dull with the sheer quantity of ambushes over the days passed. It wouldn’t do, to leave it like this until morning. Counting out the strokes works just as well. They startle when Sten huffs, still hovering, and begins anew.
“You are a Grey Warden.” It sounds bigger and more important when Sten says it. They nod, anyway. “So. It is as follows that you cannot be a woman.”

“We already know that,” North bites, “You gonna tell us the reason?”
“I’m sure he will if you let him finish,” Markus says, caressing a hand down her spine. She leans into him with a scoff.
“Maybe, if he’d get to it.”
“I’ll be brief. I am curious about sex and I trust each of you. I asked you here for help in this matter.” RK900 lets the words hang in the air as he gauges the reactions.
