Lan Wangji glanced up from where he'd been wiping down the small table in the inn room with a cloth. His eyes were steady, so placid. "I don't know," he said after a second, "but I have thought about it."
"So you think you may know, you're just not certain that you do?" Wei Wuxian shifted his elbows to his knees, wrists curled under his chin. He was the best at this—picking all the littlest parts of Lan Wangji apart and putting them back together in shining silver clarity. It was also one of his favorite things to do.
Lan Wangji nodded. "And you?"
"Hmm? What do I think?" Wei Wuxian leaned further forward, elbows digging into his knees. "I'm not quite as certain as you sound, but I think I may have an idea, at least… I wonder if we're thinking the same thing."

“You don’t like it, do you?” Wei Ying said. More like a pout, the way his big, dark eyes went round, and his mouth shaped around his words, chin tipped low. Again—grown ass man, in jeans, unspeakably cute—how?
Lan Zhan, feeling cold all over, spoke one word at a time. “What is it for?”
Wei Ying seemed to sparkle at that, a skip to his step. “Don’t you know, Lan Zhan? It’s the first today. Namesake day. Made me think of you, so I got you that. What’s more perfect, right—a blue orchid? Anyway, why don’t we go grab dinner together? Drinks on me,” he said, and winked.

As for Lan Wangji, no one had the right to move with as much speed and grace as he did just then, tugging his hand from underneath Wei Wuxian's just long enough to grab a book from the shelf and return as though he'd never left. It was the book Wei Wuxian had been catching in glimpses ever since Lan Wangji had brought it up to their room at the inn the night they received the summon to return to Cloud Recesses. The book Lan Wangji had been reading every time Wei Wuxian found him with an idle few minutes in an otherwise busy day. The book he had tried to find just earlier today before traipsing off to the Cold Pond Cave.
He'd been right to be suspicious of it, then, the way Lan Wangji flipped open to a specific page on the first try, as though by memory—or magic.
"It is not too late," Lan Wangji said and pressed the book toward him.
