The little Tachonis boy is hiding right where Julien told him to, and Julien winks at him, gesturing him to follow. They both make their way back, out of the larger halls and far enough that there are no decorations on the wall, here. This is where the guests may instruct their vassals to wait, if they do not particularly want to be shadowed by a silent form good mainly for displaying House colours for the whole night. He’s tried to bring Dame Royce to the party proper to help rescue him from conversation before, it didn’t go well. Gauche, apparently. Against etiquette, and that’s the only reason, of course. Nothing to do with the fool she made of that Halovar as she politely asked for further details of his faith until he had contradicted himself into a very tight corner.

Aranessa didn't actually know what had happened in the courtyard for several hours past their arrival at the Lloy house.
It hadn't honestly seemed important. Their little party had all escaped more or less alive, and she knew that no one else had. She was far more concerned with the things Occtis had seen, and starting to make a plan for what they needed to do next.
But. When the boy was too exhausted to keep answering questions, when they all started to peel off to their own beds, when her duties as the lady of House Royce, insofar as there was still a House to be the lady of, were complete—then, she finally allowed herself to notice that the haunted look on Julien's face had not shifted, finally allowed herself to worry about the vicious, bright-eyed grief that had made him lash out at Occtis and the tear tracks cutting through the sweat and blood on his face.
Or: The last surviving members of Houses Royce and Davinos try to find a way to keep going. Aranessa keeps her knight as close as she can.

“I think I need to check on what Julien’s up to,” Thimble told Occtis. “We shouldn’t be separating like this.”
“He’ll be upset if he catches you,” Occtis said.
“So I won’t let him catch me,” she replied, and darted away.
It was a brothel. Of course it was a fucking brothel. She shouldn’t be surprised.
Except that Julien had seemed different since he’d come back from the Eternal Night. More serious about his duties and less… everything that he’d been for so many years.
She should just turn back, now that she knew what he was doing.
But Julien left the brothel not long after arriving, certainly too quickly to have accomplished anything of note, and was striding off in a different direction. Not back towards King Gus.
Well, she’d already come this far.
