Summary
Impulse knew he’d made his last mistake, even before he turned around.
He had just entered the room, the door slightly ajar, with the plan to look around. Skizz had to be somewhere around here, right?
Unfortunately, it wasn‘t Skizz who was hiding in that room. Impulse realized that too late, as he turned around on his stubby robot legs, facing directly into the barrel of the gun.
He didn‘t scream, that much is to say to save his honor. But the gap where his head was attached, something that could be read as a mouth would a robot have the need for one, trembled a little.
Apparently that slight clatter was enough. Impulse didn‘t even register it, really. He didn‘t hear the sound. The barrel of the gun lit up momentarily and Impulse realized this would be his last moment.[During a job Impulse keeps checking in on his fellow robots, neglecting his own saftety and finding himself in a precarious situation due to it. My entry for the Team Up section of the Imp & Skizz Zine!]

As a kid I was scared of the dark, you know?
My head would always imagine those shapes lurking in the shadows. Hunched over figures that weren‘t really there but just…
Anyway. I was scared they might be ghosts.
Now, I know, don‘t scoff, ghosts aren’t that common and they can only hurt you if you aren’t prepared. That‘s a lesson you learn early, being a ghost investigator and all: being unprepared is the fastest way to kill yourself and your team.
[noise of feathers ruffling in the background]
I am prepared, these days. I wasn‘t when I was a child, but I‘m not a child anymore.
So, there isn‘t a reason to be scared anymore.
[long pause]
Usually.
Which brings me back to last Friday’s investigation.

Summary
Grian was trying to collect all his notes and papers that, of course, lay scattered across the already cramped room. Gem had already put her electrical guitar away, now picking up empty plastic bottles and half-empty snack bags they left behind. And Scar was apparently trying to untangle some cables, crouched underneath the electrical keyboard.
Impulse on the other hand stood up, giving Skizz his full attention. Clocking onto that, Skizz’s grin widened. He sounded a bit breathless as he spoke, as if he had run all the way down the corridor to their little studio. (Well not theirs, technically, but Impulse ignored that fact most of the time.)
“GIGGS got a gig,” he said, waving his phone a little.
That certainly got everyone's attention.[In which Impulse, Gem, Grian and Scar are a band, trying to get a foot in the door and Skizz does his best to support - now matter how hard he wants to be there on stage with them.]

Summary
On the morning of Scar’s last day, it was raining. Or, maybe it wasn’t his last day per se, but who knew really?
Very well could be! Immortality was a fickle thing and Scar wasn’t sure what the limits would be.
And he’d rather not find out, mind you!
So yes, it bothered him that on this particular morning rain clouds hung low over the harbor he was unfortunate enough to be held captive in. They had yet to release their water, they’d potentially cry their tears once he was hanging from that noose. How poetic. Really- “Can you shut it?”
[Scar is a pirate and he's meeting a pirate's end- or he would be, if he wasn't immortal. Sadly the same can't be said about his cell mate.]

“Uh… Langdon,” she calls, going for the first person she catches sight of. He likes Mel. “A word?”
“Is it fast, because I have two patients who are getting pretty antsy with me,” he asks her.
They’re not on the best of terms, but they work together fine. Now they have a common interest. “I don’t know if it was just a faulty reading, or a—a fluke, or what, but King’s in with a kid right now who’s really anxious, so she was demonstrating some of the workup—”
“I said fast, Santos,” he says, concern catching in his brow at the mention of Mel’s name.
“Her pulse ox was 92.” She has to swallow back… something. Nervousness, maybe. Concern if she were to convince herself she cared that much. “When she demonstrated the pulse oximeter, her pulse ox was 92.”
Mel struggles to eat; the others notice. No one's loud about it, but no one has to be.
