Beard’s on his way back to his dorm room, where he plans to spend the rest of his night smoking copious amounts of weed, when his peripheral vision picks up someone in the student lounge. Ted Lasso is sitting alone on one of the couches reading a book, the room otherwise empty.

☆ “So,” Beard says when they’re alone in the lounge again, “my folks are headed back to Topeka. Not sure what your plans are, but… do you have an opinion on the Devil’s Lettuce?”
It takes a second, and then Ted beams. “Why, yes I do. This growing boy knows vegetables are good for him.”
With an appreciative laugh, Beard stands up. “So, should we… beet it?”
Ted jumps to his feet, book raised in the air. “Yes!” ☆
