Summary
You liked vegetable gardening and you were good at it, but you hadn’t gotten the hand of fighting yet.
You knew the reason why he always won during your fake fights.
You didn’t want to hurt him.
The thought was ridiculous. He was much stronger than you and he had been fighting against raiders and infected for over a decade, yet there was a possibility that he lost his focus or his balance. He wasn’t invincible after all; you had seen him clutching his shirt and gasping for air; you had seen him swirl a glass of cheap alcohol with a somber look and gulp it down with a pained expression.
You didn’t want to cause harm. So, you never aimed at any part of his body, you never threw a hook, you never punched him, you never kicked him.

Summary
But it wasn’t the fear of losing you what compelled Din to tell you that he had feelings for you. It felt natural, after all the memories you’d created together. Trust had developed gradually, with every personal detail about your lives you’d shared, with every leap of faith, with the mutual respect of boundaries.
Caring for the child had also strengthened your bond. Din and you felt the instinct to protect the child and create an environment where he was warm and well-fed and mentally challenged. Both of you wanted to make sure that he knew he was loved.
And the child loved both of you. To the moon and back.

Summary
His eyes fell upon her. Something flickered in his gaze. He didn’t know that she would be here tonight, in his ancestral home, willing to learn whatever he planned on teaching them.
She forced herself not to tremble. She didn’t fear the darkness inside him, but she feared his reaction.
Enrolling for his course had been a last-minute decision, one driven by a sense of emptiness. It was a way to cope. A way to make her life more tolerable.

Summary
Erik listened to his podcast every Monday night, when he came home after work. Some Mondays he was more tired than others, but he had never found himself zooming in and out while listening to the weekly episodes. The way the professor spoke made him feel engaged.
It was like listening to a friend. The professor never judged; he spoke of sensitive topics, trying to shred some light about how the brain worked. In each episode, he always tried to give hope. The way he spoke, with understanding and care, and his tone of voice, helped Erik quiet his chattering mind. It was soothing. It felt as though someone was wrapping an invisible blanket around his body and offering him a hot beverage.
Was it possible to grow fond of someone you had never spoken to?
Professor Xavier wasn’t his professor, to Erik’s dismay. He only taught final-year students, and Erik was in his first year.

He spotted the man sitting at the bar top. Young, expensive clothes, an air of confidence. None of that surprised Fusco.
“Lionel, aren’t you?” The man’s eyes scanned him. Fusco shifted his weight from one foot to another. Great, this was already embarrassing.
This man was a professional wingman. Before being given this task, Fusco didn’t know this was a real profession. A man pretending to be your friend and helping you flirt?
