Summary
After a serious and devastating attack, the Uchiha are in desperate need of a sealmaster. Unfortunately for them, the best candidate happens to be from the Senju clan. Fortunately for them, he doesn't seem all that inclined to act like an enemy.
Which is lucky because, as it turns out, there are plenty of other adversaries making moves in Fire Country - both the clans will need to make new friends to survive.
Madara would have been content if his new husband tolerated him and helped his clan stay safe. He doesn't quite know what to do with the fact that his husband doesn't stop there.

Madara always wanted to meet his soulmate, the submissive that was made for him alone, but when the man starts to draw penises on his forehead, on both their foreheads as any mark made on one would mirror on their mate's skin, he only wanted to strangle the man.

Tsurugi is a bright child. Enthusiastic, curious, friendly. Madara took a good year to learn to love her.
Madara loves her, but she was born of violence and theft and appeared by surprise. He has to be her entire world, shield, scaffold to grow onto, and he wasn't ready.
He loves her now, though. She's his firstborn and heir and his blood, and she sings like a screechy bird in the bath and bites when tickled, and from the first day he could bring himself to hold her she has slept nowhere better than face down on his chest.

"Oh," Izuna said -- delicately, while studiously reading his folder, "I'm afraid we need someone with a ... strong personality for Naohime."
"Why's that?" Hashirama replied, just as painfully polite.
The daimyo's mediator kept watching them and scratching little pointy words in his notebook.
"Because if your man doesn't prove that he's dangerous and has the personality to use it on her if she pushes him, it's going to turn abusive," Madara drawled.
Hashirama stared at him for a blank second. The daimyo's envoy stopped writing; even his stone-faced Aburame bodyguard arched her eyebrows over her darkened spectacles.
Tobirama stretched out across the table without another word to take back one of the folders Izuna had spread around him.

The daimyo is over the whole Uchiha/Senju war. They're going to become one people if they know what's good for them.
Madara hates it enough without having to marry a woman too.

The creature that rises from the waves is made of seafoam and ice. It stands on two legs and looks human enough, if only strange for how colorless it is. Madara thinks of a wedding gown, and wonders whether this is the attempt of the water to appeal to him. He watches the thing shamble forward and slowly form a face, twisting its head side to side before the cheeks, the nose, and the rest of it form and follow.
There's the ring, glistening around its finger.

“They want me to get married,” Ichigo says with the sort of bewildered offense that he often wears after returning from Seireitei. Specifically, whenever he’s been handed orders from Central 46 that he deems bullshit, and which he’s going to do his damnedest to get out of.
“Did they say who they had in mind?” Kisuke asks, curious. And besides, it’s never too early to start planning how to eliminate a target, should such a thing become necessary.
“They’re trying to marry me off to Byakuya." Ichigo's face is scrunched up. Confusion or disgust—or some blend of both, ideally.
“Probably because you insist on calling him by his given name,” Kisuke says, aiming for teasing and landing a little too close to bitter, instead. It’s been years. Years. And Ichigo still predominantly calls him Getaboushi or Urahara.

“Ichigo,” Kisuke looked supremely amused, grey eyes gleaming, “do recall I can feel your reiatsu. You are distinctly irritated about something that happened. And unless that head injury damaged your memory of the events, you know how dangerous it is to train in new techniques while unfocused or unbalanced.”
Ichigo reflexively rubbed at the back of his head. He certainly remembered. “It’s stupid and teenagery.”
“So?”
“You’re not a proponent of ‘least said soonest mended’, are you?”
“Not for some things. If you’d rather not train and instead go home to angst over it, by all means,” he waved his fan at the door. Chuckled when Ichigo glared at him. “Otherwise, spit it out so I can tease you and we can both move on.”
Ichigo looked away, realized his arms were crossed and that his reiatsu wouldn’t be needed for anyone to read him. “I don’t even know if you’d understand. Might just be a human thing.”

He shook his head. “At the moment? Understandably suspicious Shinigami and soul-scape interloper. Before the attempt was made? Harder to quantify. A weird mix of sometimes close and sometimes casual friends and occasionally annoying siblings.”
Yoruichi’s lips fought for a second to quirk in amusement. That’s probably how most of her friends would describe their relationship with her, if asked while in a mood for honesty.

“Which has largely reassured them that you’re alright, that you’re coping with everything well, seizing the chance of life with two hands.
“But you haven’t moved forward, have you?” he asked, flinching a bit internally at the bite of his own words.
The blazing, poisonously yellow glare he was given…
“And you care, do ya?” Narrowed eyes, teeth bared in a sneering snarl. “You can take your concern right to hell.”
