Summary
If there’s one thing Shane hates more than Zuzu City pretty boys, it’s Zuzu City pretty boys who act like they own the world. He thinks James is exactly the type, already hates the other man’s guts when the annoying city-dweller invades his personal space in his pressed button-up shirt, his lips pulled back so tightly he could blind a deer with those infuriating pearly whites.
“You should shut up if you don’t wanna get fucked up, pretty boy.”
“You think I’m pretty?” James’ laugh rings loudly in his ears. “I’ll take any compliment I can get.”

Summary
Between his soul-sucking job at JojaMart and the excruciating smallness of life in the countryside, there isn't much about Pelican Town that Shane likes. When Willow shows up to take over the old farm, he's sure she'll grow to resent this place, too, but it seems like she loves everything about it—and, much to Shane's disbelief, has even taken a more-than-friendly interest in him.
They both have their fair share of wounds, though, and as they start to open up to one another, it becomes clear that neither of them can fight their battles alone.
Alternating POV. Some canon divergence.

Summary
Molly moved to Pelican Town expecting hard work, quiet mornings, and maybe a little peace. What she didn’t expect was Shane — sober, successful, and somehow even more infuriating than everyone warned her.
He thinks she’s reckless. She thinks he’s a controlling asshole.
Between livestock contracts, mine accidents, and a town that never stops watching, the two keep colliding — all sharp words, bad timing, and the kind of tension neither of them wants to admit is turning into (‘respect’).
A story about second chances, stubborn people, and what happens when two very different versions of survival meet in the same small town.

Summary
“You are so disgusting! You're been rude to me for over a year and then this? What the actual fuck?” Bailey yelled, practically seeing red.
A small smile came to Shane's face, seemingly enjoying this. It only made her more mad.
“I’ve been rude to you?” He asked. She felt her nostrils flare.
“Yes! You know you have. All I wanted was to be your friend and you -”
He cut her off, the smile quickly fading. “You tried to bribe me with your little gifts and fake hello once a day. That little shit might work on every other asshole around here, but it’s not what I want from you.”
He’d taken a small step towards her. Shane wasn’t exactly tall, but he was still taller than her. Somehow, the air shifted and Bailey could feel her heart start to race.
“Then what do you want?” She asked quietly, her eyes widening. She regretted it the second she’d said it, but was suddenly dying to know his answer.
Shane took another step closer to her, his voice lowering. “I want you on your fucking knees.”Series

Summary
“Fucking Yoba.” Shane said next to Bailey, turning his stool. “Just fucking come here.”
Before she could ask what he meant, he was placing his hands under her armpits and lifting her up. Suddenly, she was seated on Shane’s thighs, her back against his chest. She stilled, her eyes wide.
She turned her head slightly, trying to look at him. She lowered her voice. “What’s happening right now?”
He spoke into her ear. “I can’t fucking listen to you sigh all night.”
“Well I can’t just sit on your lap.” She started to squirm to get off of him.
Instead of letting her go, he wrapped a hand around her waist, stopping her. “It’s my lap or Clint’s. Your choice.”
She felt her eyes go wide as she looked over to the blacksmith. Somehow, Shane was the much better choice.
She nearly jumped as she felt both his hands slide towards her thighs, the tips of his fingers just barely burrowing between them at the edge of her dress.
He shifted lightly, bumping his crotch against her ass as he did. Was he…bigger than he’d been a minute ago? He dug his hands between her thighs. Separating his hands, he dragged her legs with them so she was spread out on him.

Summary
The farmer's voice startles Shane out of his wandering thoughts. “Come home with me.” It’s the first full sentence that has passed between them tonight.
He sits, dumbfounded, mouth hanging open, wondering if he really heard what he thought he heard. “What?”
Her face gives nothing away. “Come home with me.”
They’ve spoken before on rare occasions, even sharing beer at the lake one night past both their bedtimes but they certainly aren’t what he would call friends. “Why me?”
“Well, we’re the outcasts aren’t we?” she states matter of factly. “We don’t exactly fit in with the rest of the town.”Bookmarked by mayonga
