Summary
Intention is the foundation of all magic, and that includes the potions brewing.
For every potion that contained fairy wings, it was easy to notice a significant improvement in its efficacy if the wings were given willingly by the fairies. That was just a basic concept that every mediocre potion master knew already. How that same logic could be applied with other creatures, that was Severus’ discovery.
Unfortunately, there was no way to prove his theory, since it's impossible to talk to animals. But what if he tried anyway?
