Xiao lowers his face, pressing his forehead between Venti's shoulderblades.

He squeezes his eyes shut. A pained exhale escapes his lungs as his chest hurts from all the feelings he desperately tries to trap inside.
I think I love you.
He feels like it's going to burst and bare his weak, trembling heart. Beating restlessly, framed by the jagged claws of his ribcage. A desperate offering to the one he might consider to be his God. Plate his heart in a pretty way and give it away. He did this, so many years ago. He didn’t feel whole ever since.
“I love you.” He says only with his lips.
Can you be mine forever?
This is going to kill me, he thinks.

OR: Once, in Liyue, in school, they had each other. But after their graduation Venti disappears from Xiao's life without a word. Years pass, and fate brings them together again.
