“It was fine,” Stolas says, sharper than he meant to. His shoulders curl in. “That’s just… life for you, isn’t it? I was a teenager, had very teenaged ideas about how it all worked. All I did was read romance novels alone, and I had these big, stupid visions of broad and handsome men climbing through my window to… I don’t know, ravish me and sweep me away, or what else you have. Lots of saliva, lots of bridal carrying… not something that could ever have feasibly happened, see.”
He trails off, mildly flushed. He still winces whenever he thinks about it, and gracefully omits the part where those same fantasies had stuck with him until his early thirties at least.
He looks back down at Blitzø, who now has a dangerous glimmer in his eye. The kind he gets whenever he has an idea.
