It was one of the better jobs they have had so far.

After the last show of the tour, Steve sits alone in their dressing room, unable to take off the harness and collar of his stage outfit. He doesn't want this tour to end, doesn't want to start tomorrow without a job or a real plan of where to go.
Keeping his stage outfit on somehow helps keep up the illusion that everything is alright, that the tour isn't ending, his life held together by the tight embrace of the harness.
Steve is still trying to get himself to take it off when someone picks up the leashes. He didn't even hear anyone coming in, startles at the sounds of the metal clinking together and then notices the slightest bit of tension on the formerly limp chains.
The other person doesn't yank on them like they do (did) on stage where he pretended to fight against his handler and pull on them almost every evening, no, they just hold them strong and steady.
It makes Steve go pliant.

Summary
"Finish your drink first Stevie, then me and Billy have a motel room near here we can head back to" He stares into Steve's eyes as he says it, knows that it's an order he has to do. Billy lets out a sigh beside them, clearly wanting to hurry it up.
Steve won't admit it but he is too, so he grabs his bottle and downs the rest of it, which wasn't much. As he pulls his bottle away a little drop of it leaks from his mouth.
"Mucky little pup, aren't you?" Eddie swipes his thumb across Steve's chin, collecting the rogue dribble of beer that escaped Steve's mouth. Beside him Billy raises his glass, downing the remnants of what was left of his drink too with a stupidly gorgeous smirk on his face.
Steve will deny the sound that comes out of his mouth until the day he dies. Girls have always told him to tone it down, that he's too loud. Too much. His noise seems to have the opposite effect on both Eddie and Billy - Billy tipping his head back with a little groan, his hands gripping onto the sticky countertop and a delicious little smirk spreading across Eddie's face.
"Oh we're going to have fun with you puppy"
A.K.A Steve goes on a night out in the city and learns some things about himself.

Summary
“I think you’d be a great dad,” Eddie finds himself saying.
Imagines Steve running around chasing a honey-haired toddler. Throwing them around with strong arms. Walking under trees with them on his shoulders.
Steve looks grateful for this comment. A little close-mouthed, half-smile creeps up on him.
“I think you would be too, for what it’s worth.”
It’s worth a lot. Little does Steve know.
“Based on my sandwich making skills?”
Steve laughs. This gorgeous, weak laugh. He rests his head against the cupboard next to him.
“Yes. You were right. The meanest pb&j I’ve ever had.”
Eddie’s stomach is aching and it isn’t because he’s hungry.
The butterflies are starting to hurt, they’re that excessive.
“Told ya,” Eddie says. Wants to reach out and touch Steve’s face for some reason.
He looks sleepy. Gives a little yawn.

Eddie's a little high, heading home after a gig, when he spots a Camaro swerving down the road. Shortly thereafter, is Billy Hargrove staggering along the shoulder.
Billy just wanted to get his stupid little "sister" home before Neil could hand him a real ass-beating. Now he's gotta find his car and an explanation.
