Jim wrote a romance novel just to prove he could. Then someone leaked it on the public Starfleet server, and suddenly his embarrassingly smutty and sentimental Human/Vulcan love story is all over campus. Luckily for Jim, no one knows that he’s the author. Unluckily for Jim, someone forwarded the novel to the staff of the Vulcan embassy. Now, every Vulcan in San Francisco is reassessing the logical merits of taking Human bondmates.
Spock reads a Human/Vulcan romance novel because he can hardly avoid it. Suddenly, he is consumed by the need to locate the author, ascertain their wellbeing, and instruct them in the way of Vulcan mating bonds. Luckily for Spock, it doesn't take long to identify the author as Jim Kirk. Unluckily for Spock, Jim is unconscious and surrounded by interested Vulcans who also read the book.

“Yeah, and I'm excited to meet them too, but after that!” Is this a translation error? A cultural miscommunication? How is Rocky not getting it? “You're partners. They're not going to want some alien around while you're, like… going on dates and all that.”
“Does not mean no time for Grace.” Rocky’s starting to sound frustrated. Part of me feels bad, but the rest is just as frustrated. “Why think this, question? On Earth, just abandon friends when have mate, question?”
It's so clearly a rhetorical question, to which the answer is obviously supposed to be no, of course not. I freeze up anyway.

“He’s like-" Martin squints somewhere between the bar and the emergency exit sign past Sasha's head. He thinks about Jon, and his stupid sweater vests and his stupid glasses, his stupid soft-looking hair and his stupid high cheekbones on his stupid handsome face that’s always scowling in a way that is — unfortunately — painfully attractive.
“A cactus.”
After Martin makes an off-handed comment to Tim and Sasha comparing Jon’s approachability to that of a cactus, Tim buys his one as a joke. Martin isn’t exactly amused (or so he says), but he’s always wanted to get into gardening, so he keeps it at his desk in the Archives. The place could use a little green, anyway.
Martin's POV from season 1 to season 4, using a cactus as an emotional focal point. Mainly focused on Jonmartin, but a good dose of season 1 friendship as well.

"Very," Rocky hums.
My throat tightens. "Does that mean there's something wrong? Are you sick?"
Rocky makes a gesture I usually interpret as "not exactly". "Not sick," he says. "But doctors still worry. When Eridian start to make fewer eggs, this usually means laying period of life is over soon. Rocky very young for this. Rocky supposed to be in ideal time of life for laying. Rocky younger than Adrian, even." He shifts on three of his feet. Already, my mind is racing ahead, wondering -- "Doctors told Rocky to ask Grace, is this radiation side effect, question?"

“Who complained about you eating, question?” Someone must’ve said something. He’s had so many visitors in the last couple of days. Who was it? Grace has never questioned this part of himself. Grace huffs at me.
“No one! I’m just trying to be polite! Eridians have special soundproof eating rooms, shouldn’t I?”
“You are not Eridian!”
He doesn’t need to meet our standards; he’s his own species! Some things he might need to change in his daily life to adapt to Erid life, but his food habits don’t need to be one of them. My words don’t comfort Grace like I thought they would. Grace shrinks into himself, and I wish I were on his side to hug him.
or the Entities provide Grace with a culture teacher to prepare for life on Erid and he gets his first taste of Eridian inhospitality.

Holland was so heartbreakingly obvious, Jack almost felt bad for him. Sometimes, the urge to take pity and swoop down—grab Holland by the tie, or the colorful lapel—and just plant one on him was almost too strong to bear.
But he couldn’t be sure whether Holland wanted him because he wanted him, or if it was because Jack was already there, steady and useful and safe. If it was only because of that, then it wasn’t worth the risk of losing the good thing they already had going, no matter how much Jack wanted him, too.
