Mira took a deep breath, pondering. “Our primary concern is the wedding. The Groomsman is a renowned business owner in Fiore. He’s influential. Powerful. If anything were to happen at the wedding, it could spark political chaos. Maybe war.”
Lucy straightened as the atmosphere intensified. Natsu’s expression sharpened.
“You wouldn’t let that happen, would you?”
“Of course not,” Lucy answered without hesitation.
“No one's dying at their own wedding,” Natsu piped in.
“Great!” Mira smiled, hands clapping into one another sweetly. “Then there’s just one more trivial detail.”
A moment of silence passed between them.
“You two will be going undercover as a newly wed couple!”
“Huh?” Lucy nearly choked on her spit.

“Is everything okay with you?” Lucy asks.
Okay? Natsu feels amazing. He loves the smell of Lucy’s hair, and the sound of her laugh, and the way her lips move around words, and he wants to be with her forever. And his whole body’s tingling like it’s on fire, and his entire face feels warm, and his stomach feels like when he’s on a vehicle revving up, and he might throw up soon. So apparently, he also feels awful.
“I don’t know,” he sighs.
According to Natsu, dating is more trouble than it's worth. In any case, figuring out how he feels about Lucy can wait until after they've finished the Quest.
But a recent run-in with not just one, but two alternate versions of himself who are both 1) very opinionated on the subject of romance and 2) very set on figuring out Natsu's own views on the matter might force him to reflect and, possibly, reconsider.Bookmarked by nymbee
