Rumi’s mind wanders, desperate for a change of subject. Her gaze lands on the two women who’ve been repeatedly plaguing her mind ever since she saw them step out of the limousine. Mira grins and sips on her drink, listening intently to whatever Zoey’s saying, the shorter girl gesticulating her hands wildly in the air. An ache settles in Rumi’s sternum, and that thought, that possibility—the possibility that this show can actually work—rattles through her skull.
“Hey, Celine?” she starts, not looking away from the view ahead of her. “I know it’s unconventional, but can I give out two First Impression Roses?”
Celine considers her words and follows her gaze. She presses her lips into a thin line, then she shrugs in acceptance. “Sure. After all, you’re the Bachelorette.”

“But we are not a couple,” Wednesday flatly replied, remaining unmoved. Enid sighed, then squatted down in front of her friend.
“We can pretend,” she sang with an upswing in her tone. “C’mon, you can’t tell me this wouldn’t be the coolest contest to win and that it’s not practically made for us! ... honestly, it’s not like we’d have to change all that much. Half our friends already think we’re dating anyways–”
“What–”
“And if we just told everyone we were, they would all totes be on board. Trust me they stan.”
“They what?” Wednesday was just as confused with the slang as the topic, but Enid stood up and continued as if she was keeping up.
“This would actually be a perfect way to come out as a couple. I could say that we’ve been keeping it under wraps since we all know how you are,” Wednesday stood up and followed her roommate as she began to wander during the explanation of what was unfurling into some sort of teen romance masterplan. “But since we wouldn’t be able to participate in this contest without everyone finding out,” she abruptly turned around, causing the follower to stop short, “BAM! Here we are, world!” Enid beamed.
Finally an adventure without bad guys or danger… or was it?

So what are two best friends to do but get a quick divorce and pretend they didn't have sex or actually mean it when they said they loved each other. Finding out they can't get a quick divorce because of some poor wording in a clause of the Alien Amnesty Act really doesn't help with this new plan.

Summary

Enid never anticipated needing to learn how to do demolition for mold removal, fix electrical, and especially – deal with the critters that come with owning a house that is more than one hundred years old. Unable to take it, she reaches out to a cryptic ad for pest removal that brings an even more mysterious young woman into her life.
Wednesday arrives at the house and discovers the mess that Enid has is far beyond the scope of the influencer’s abilities, she decides to offer assistance with her myriad of skills (mostly just so she doesn’t kill herself on camera trying to install a lighting fixture). The quiz is a disaster. Wracking her head for any nuggets of information she can remember from the lecture that week, she can barely piece together what the questions are asking before the time is called.
Her lab partner, on the other hand, is the first to finish, figure moving as smoothly as blades across ice to the front of the room, placing her paper down with a decisive flutter and returning to her seat, hands crossed in front of her as she waits for everyone else to catch up.
It doesn’t annoy Enid, the elegance with which the girl holds herself. It’s more…intrigue, she supposes.
