Summary
Post-series. The danger Neal is in from the Pink Panthers, even though they are in prison, is handled directly by the show in the aftermath of the op - Neal fakes his death. What is not handled at all is the fact that Peter, and his family, are in almost as much danger as Neal is. (Almost as much, because Peter at least has the thin protection of an alias).
Most of chapters two through six are coming from Neal's imagination.
This is follows my other story "Twenty-Three Million and Counting," but can be read without it; there may be a line or two of which the meaning isn't obvious.

Summary
"Uhh, Peter." Neal took a few more hesitant steps into the room, noting the four shooting lanes stretched out some 50ft into the distance. "I really don't think using me as target practise is allowed."
"Don't tempt me." Peter muttered under his breath, although Neal still heard.
The FBI agent checked through a pile of supplies on the back table, extra clips for a gun, fresh paper targets in different sizes, headphones and safety goggles.
Okay, now Neal was desperate enough to ask directly. The lingering smell of gunpowder in the air was doing strange things to his head.
"Seriously, what are we doing here?"
Peter stopped what he was doing, turned and frowned when he noted his CI's hesitance.
"Neal, I'm not going to shoot you for god's sake."
Or Peter decides Neal needs some training if he's going to keep ending up around guns, he takes him to the FBI firing range. Set late Season 1.

"You just broke out of federal prison, and you want to rob one of the most secure museums in the country?"
Keller shrugged, his eyes glittering with some inner knowledge. "I need to fund my future travels somehow. Besides why would I let the opportunity pass to pull a job with my old pal, one last time."
"I assume I don't have a choice in this." Neal muttered bitterly, well aware that Keller had all the leverage he needed with Peter. "Or the method of our shopping?"
"We all have choices, Neal." Keller smiled, teeth bared. "But no need to fret about how we get in, everything's all planned."
"By you."
That was the thing Neal was most anxious about, Keller's plans had a way of going awry and were always too crude for his liking.
Or An alternate take on the episode Payback. What if Keller escaped from prison differently, using Peter and Neal to do it? What if he decided to put Neal's thievery skills to good use before fleeing the city? A certain FBI agent is once again leverage.
