Summary
“My mom died,” Buck says flatly, like reciting a fact he read somewhere. He adds a small shrug, as if that explains it. It doesn’t feel real. The words sit in the air, weightless and strange.
Eddie frowns. Bobby shifts closer.
“Are you okay?” Bobby asks gently.
Buck blinks at him, then gives a quick nod, too fast to be convincing. “Yeah,” he says. His voice is thin, brittle. “Did you want me to start lunch? I was thinking maybe that cheesy broccoli bake.”
Eddie’s brows knit together. “Buck…” he says carefully, voice low and steady.
“Or chili,” Buck continues, his hands smoothing out a crease in his jacket like that’s the thing that matters. “I think we’ve got enough ground beef.”
“Buck,” Eddie says again, firmer this time.
Buck’s hands still. He finally looks up, meeting Eddie’s eyes.
Oh.
His mom died.
or
Margaret Buckley dies, and Buck tries to navigate grief, develops a complex relationship with apple pie, while Eddie, as always, is there.

Summary
“I’m not trying to keep tabs on you,” Eddie adds, like he knows exactly what Buck was about to accuse him of. “You don’t have to tell me everything. Just… don’t disappear on me, alright?”
Eddie lingers for another second, and can feel the Eddie wants to say more but he nods once and steps out of the locker room, leaving Buck alone.
Buck stands there for a moment, one hand braced against the open locker, breathing slower now but not calmer, because Eddie’s words stick in his head.
Don’t disappear on me.

Summary
Edwin drags his lips from Buck’s jaw to his neck, laughing into his fever hot skin. “Did you forget my name?”
Buck blinks down at the top of his head, sighing, baring his throat. The wall digs into his back where he’s being pushed up against it. “No?”
“Then who is Eddie?”
...or, Buck just wants to hook up with a guy in peace. His life falls apart.

Summary
“Oh, hey, green this time,” Buck’s voice filters in as he swings around the corner of the railing. “What flavor is that? Watermelon or green apple?” He doesn’t pause to let Eddie answer though. “Or maybe strawberry? Although, I think Haribo are the only ones that do that. S’weird though, don’t you think? Strawberry isn’t green, it should be red.”
Eddie, who hasn’t looked up from his book — he’s mastered the art of splitting his attention, by now — snorts and curls his hand into a fist. The ring pop is lodged halfway down his middle finger, a little tight around the knuckle but secure. He stretches his arm out towards Buck, a silent offering.
Buck brightens and veers towards Eddie’s side of the couch. His fingers wind around Eddie’s wrist to steady it and he draws Eddie’s hand up, ducking down halfway to meet it.
He hums delightedly, as he gets his answer.
