Summary
Eddie had a hard time accepting his newfound identity (being gay?) and was fairly certain it was because of the religious undertones in his own upbringing. At first, he truly did think ‘soaking’ was a dumbass work-around to abstaining from premarital sex, but mostly because it still sounded like intercourse, if it sounds like sex, if it feels like sex - well then, it’s probably sex. After thinking about it for a minute though, well that and when he mixed his own spiritual experiences into the concept, his thoughts now wondered if this was something he could do with Buck. (Now that was an intrusive thought.)

Summary
So I came up with a head cannon on Tumblr for this and, well...now I want to write it.
~~~~~~~~
-OR- And how stupid is it that reading 10 chapters of a guide to dating a Buckley by his coworker is how Eddie finally got his shit together and asked Buck out for a date? But, Eddie’s happy and so is Buck, so Chim might have had a point.-OR-Chim was just trying to make sure Eddie had something to help him out with Buck...and he had experience dating a Buckley, so why should he have to suffer the mutual pining when he could do something about it?
Summary
When Eddie joins the 118, he and Buck don't exactly hit it off on the right foot. Or continue to walk on the right foot. In fact they kind of can't stand each other.
Good thing they each have a beloved anonymous pen pal to share their daily woes with, someone completely unlike their insufferable coworker.
Or, in which Buck and Eddie love each other before they know each other, and know each other before they love each other.
Summary
This is all perfectly applicable to friendship. Friendships require effort. Intentionality. Sometimes you have to watch a minute long Instagram video about attracting men to figure out how to get your male best friend to come back to your house and fall asleep on your couch again. Or in your bed. Either one.
Whatever Buck's comfortable with. Eddie's not picky.
Eddie will take whatever proximity Buck is willing to offer and be grateful for it, and if that sounds desperate then fine, it's a little desperate, but it's friend-desperate, which is a completely different thing than regular desperate.
He replays the video and takes mental notes, formulating a plan that is simple: get Buck's attention. Spend more time with Buck. Stop feeling like his ribcage has been hollowed out with a melon baller every time he goes forty-eight hours without hearing Buck laugh.
Easy and straightforward. He’s got this.
Or,
Five times Eddie tries to show Buck how much he misses him; plus the one time he just says it.Series
Summary
The doctor tilts her head to the only source of warmth in the cold, hospital room. “And who’s he?”
Buck’s eyes drift to Eddie, hungry for the sight of him. They fall upon the tense line of Eddie’s shoulders, the firm press of otherwise plump lips, watching like the very air in his lungs depend on Buck’s answer.
“That’s Eddie,” Buck answers, and the smile sneaks up on him. “Eddie Diaz. My partner.”
There. Relief washes through Eddie in a visible wave: his shoulders drop, features relaxing with the soft push of an exhale. Buck warms at the sight. Right answer.
A polysemy is a word with multiple, related meanings. The word partner, for example, can mean close friendship, a teammate, a co-parent. To someone else, it can also mean a lover.Bookmarked by pleasedeletethis
