“You’re right here,” Jay echoes, feeling inexplicably fond. He flexes his fingers, then brushes a thumb over one arch of Sunghoon’s perfect eyebrows. “Remember when you weren’t real?”
Heeseung, on the other side of Jay, must catch the tail end of their conversation, for he snorts at that. “Has our Jongseongie had a little too much to drink?” he asks, smiling sweetly at Sunghoon over Jay’s shoulder.
“No,” Jay insists, obstinate. “You”—he aims one crooked finger at Jake, though to be honest he could be pointing at Taehyun and it wouldn’t make a difference—“you guys didn’t believe he was real.” He reaches out, pinches one of Sunghoon’s cheeks. “But look at him. Here he is! In the flesh.”

Summary
Jungwon is—
He's a lot. A lot more than Jay could have ever predicted when Jungwon stepped into his house that first time—more astute and unpredictable, vivid and lovely. He's been noticing it recently, just how lovely Jungwon is, but he doesn't know how to connect all the discrete hints to form a picture he wants to see.

Summary
The truth is that Jungwon has always looked at Jongseong with longing for something else, with wanting something more: at first it had been that heart-on-sleeve openness, the way Jongseong had readily let himself seem so vulnerable for everyone else to prod at, then it had been BigHit. Now, his feelings have transformed into something else entirely.

Summary
Witnessing the metamorphosis of a trainee to idol firsthand shifted something within Heeseung. He couldn’t help but feel as if he’d been stagnant for all those months, treading water to merely stay afloat instead of rising with the tides. Even his top rankings as a trainee—being the ace, being number one—started to take on a hollow ring.
These are the things that are hard for Heeseung to forget.

Sunoo beats him to the chase. “Sunghoon-hyung,” Sunoo says, reproaching. He raises an eyebrow. “If you refuse, doesn’t that mean you forfeit?” He turns to Kai. “Right, Kai-hyung?”
“Uh… right,” Kai says, hesitant. He offers Sunghoon a helpless shrug in reply. Rules are rules, even in a game of chicken. Especially in a game of chicken.

Either way, Heeseung doesn't feel quite as surprised as he thinks he should when Jungwon mumbles, quiet in the still night, "Heeseung-hyung, what are you going to do about Sunghoon?"
If there's anyone Heeseung could tell, anyone he could trust with his worries, it would be Jungwon. So he replies, as honest as he can possibly be: "I don't know, Jungwon-ah."

“I just think it’s amusing,” Jaemin interrupts. He places a hand on Jeno’s shoulder, welcoming and warm in contrast to the cold, hard door against Jeno’s back. “Shouldn’t you be asking yourself that, Jeno-yah?”

“This morning. Your shirt was so fucking ugly,” Beomgyu whispers, harsh, pressing their foreheads together. “I wanted—I wanted—”
“Wanted what?” Heeseung asks softly. He shuts his eyes, eyelashes trembling against his cheek. “Come on. Say it.”
“I wanted to rip it off you, obviously,” Beomgyu continues in a rush. He doesn’t bother waiting for Heeseung’s response—doesn’t want to listen to some glib remark in reply, a goading well, why didn’t you? that he can already hear so clearly in his head. Instead, Beomgyu finally closes the distance between their mouths.
(or: heeseung has terrible taste in clothes, and beomgyu... well. he's kind of into it. heeseung, that is.)

As for her? It’s a good day when people don’t confuse her for Chaeyeon, and it's hard to escape from her sister’s shadow when they’re only a grade apart.
Jaemin sighs. “Chaeryeong,” he says, gentle. Yangyang takes a vicious bite out of his burger. “Isn’t it obvious?”

"Why wouldn’t I?" Seokmin replies. “Isn’t going on a road trip, like, one of those ‘Great American Experiences’ that—” here, he takes on Mingyu’s southern drawl— “y’all have been missing out on?” He shuts a drawer, then opens another one at random. “Besides, it’s with Jaehyun and Yuna—”
"It's always them," Mingyu interrupts, concern lacing the rounded-out syllables. "Why should I even ask?" He collapses back onto his bed but keeps one eye open to watch Seokmin pack. All relaxed, but a hidden worry underneath. “Of course it is.”
Seokmin stares down at all of the mismatched socks in his underwear drawer and shrugs. He can't exactly contest the truth.
