“Hah! No,” Venti says lightly, “But I’m sure there are many who believe I am. That’s quite alright. Whether I return in the next century or the next hour matters little. I lack control over the nature of fate.”
“Doesn’t that make you nervous? Not having control over your fate?”
“Not particularly.” Venti plucks another string on his loom, and it rings out with a bittersweet melody. “I’ve never been one for control, anyway. Besides, fate brought us together, didn’t it? It can’t be all bad.”

After his attempt to purify Mikage Furnace, the being known as Kabukimono meets Death, whom he comes to know as the teasing Venti. Throughout his many incarnations, Scaramouche reunites with Death time and time again, but there’s more to his reaper’s presence than meets the eye.
OR; Venti is the God of Death, and Scaramouche has never wanted something more.
