Summary
Following an afternoon of sex and tuna melts, Shane goes searching for the explicit rules of what being 'friends with benefits' entails. In his humble opinion, they're nailing it.
Once friendship is on the table, Shane reconsiders the usefulness and immutability of the public rivalry narrative. Surely the NHL can make just as much money from a bromance as it can from a rivalry?
A missed call from J.J., a dinner at All-Stars, and an ill-considered mad dash to the airport send Shane's season in a very different direction to the disciplined three-peat he'd been planning back in October.
"This rivalry thing: it was everyone else who said we hated each other off the ice. There’s no rule that says we have to keep doing that forever.” Shane stared outside, past the blinding billboards and down at the streets below. “It was nice. Hanging out, last time.”
He knew what it looked like when Rozanov shut down, when he closed himself off and pushed the world away. He’d finish the conversation abruptly, curt, clipped, and retreat. So Shane knew he’d won when Rozanov finally answered with: “Are we six years old, Hollander? Asking if I want to play in sandpit with you?"

Summary
Shane accidentally destroys his phone during the 2014 MLH Awards in Las Vegas. When Rozanov refuses to kiss or speak with him after they hook up, Shane decides to stop trying to make their not-relationship work. He doesn’t bother telling Rozanov. After all, Rozanov won’t care—he’s made that very, very clear.
(Ilya cares. A lot.)

Summary
The first time Cliff saw Rozy and Hollander interact was at a team-building event before practice started the next week. Cliff had introduced himself and Hollander to Rozy, but judging by Rozy's shark-like grin and Hollander's scathing glare, they had met already. The pair spent the entire evening running their mouths, trading worse and worse barbs as the night went on, spitting and snarling in English, French, and Russian indiscriminately, culminating in Hollander nearly taking a swing at Rozy. Cliff finally separated them (“take a fucking walk, Rozanov, I don't care whose fault it was, fuck!”), and mourned Boston's chances at the Cup with half a bottle of shitty Jack Daniel's later that night. So much for a cohesive team.
Or: Cliff hasn't known a minute of peace since Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov both joined the Boston Bears. This problem resolves itself in an unexpected way.

Summary
Shane Hollander was doing fine. He was about to start his fourth year at Concordia University in Montreal, where he was now Captain of the Stingers, he had a solid group of friends who actually knew he was gay and were cool about it, and this time next year he would be playing for the Metros.
He was doing great, really.
Or he had been, until none other than Ilya Rozanov, the 28 year old KHL player who had recently disapeared from the world of hockey, became his professor and mentor.
or: Coach Theriault inadvertently sets up professor-Ilya and student/hockey captain-Shane.

Summary
“You take all your hookups here? Secret Playboy Mansion, Mr. Hefner?”
Hollander is staring at Ilya’s lips now. He’s not trying to hide it even a little bit. “I’m not inviting anyone else—“ Hollander shakes his head once, like a cat sneezing. “Anyway, I’m pretty sure those girls actually live in the Playboy Mansion. This place is an investment property.”
“Da, investment in me fucking you.” The words aren’t half as playful as Ilya wants them to be when they fall out of his mouth.
