Summary
“You are acting like no one has ever done this to you before.”
“Not true,” Shane mumbles.
“No,” Ilya agrees. “You do this with Butler. In my house.” He leans in, whispers right into Shane’s ear: “But he is bad at it, I think. Or you would not be acting like this, just from a little touch.”
Ilya reluctantly lends his apartment to the captain of the Boston Raiders, who uses it to conduct an extramarital affair. Unfortunately, his captain's mistress turns out to be Shane Hollander.

Beautifully written, humorous, angsty, and also tender and sweet, featuring a Shane and Ilya I'm absolutely in love with. And it ends in a perfect place, too, but boy, do I wish I could watch their story unfold forever

Summary
Shane could spew black bile all over the television screen. In his whole life he’d never hated anyone more than Scott Hunter, because he knew this was how it would be written in the history books: groundbreaking Captain Scott Hunter bravely kissed his cute little boyfriend on center ice and everybody clapped; stupid slut Shane Hollander got caught with a cock up his ass.
Somebody leaks a sex tape of Shane.

One of the SPN fics that has stuck with me for years. I just adore this. It's such a great example of a fic that doesn't have a lot of words or dive into the characters' heads too much, and yet still somehow (or maybe even because of that) manages to tell a complete story and convey Dean's emotions in a way that is achingly tragic but not just trauma porn. He's trapped in his own personal hell, and he's so flippant about it, and I want to cry
I'll treasure it forever ♡

Summary
This isn’t a story with a deeper meaning. There is no moral at the end.
On December 28th, 2007, Sam Winchester walked out of the motel room he was sharing with his brother and never came back. This is the story of what happened after.

Bookmarker's Notes
Read this years ago, and many times over since, and no matter how much time has passed, it still haunts me
Spoiler
This is one of those stories that just sticks with you incessantly, takes up every micrometer of your brain matter, and repeats on and on in a loop to the point where you literally cannot think about anything else.
ten thousand miles is absolutely beautiful. I don't remember where exactly I stumbled upon the story—most likely on a rec list back on LiveJournal. I know that I didn't read it for a while afterwards. I was scared, I guess, because I knew it was going to be gut-wrenching, and I tend not to enjoy fics that end with no real resolution or leave too many questions unanswered. But here... that's the whole purpose of the story, the notion that an unsolved mystery, forever asking yourself, "what could have happened?" is truly one of the most horrible things that could befall a loved one, especially someone like Dean, who's job it is to investigate mysterious circumstances and take care of his brother, and who ultimately fails at doing both.
It's an incredibly touching study of grief and purpose and moving on, and as for the mystery itself, it helps that I've come up with my own theory behind what happened, one that I'm fairly happy with, and one that makes the story feel like it has some closure to me. That being said, this fic is definitely all hurt no comfort; a tragedy in every sense of the word, but there's still something vaguely hopeful about the end. I like to compare it in some ways to what was supposed to be the ending of SPN—with Sam in Hell for all eternity. Sure the show moved on past season 5, but if I consider Swan Song the "true" ending and everything beyond that an AU, then the reality of the Winchesters' fates is Sam and Dean doomed to forever be apart. At least in this fic there's the chance that they will meet again in the afterlife, assuming Sam is dead (which I truly believe is the case).
So it's a sad ending, but it's not forever, and hell, in some ways that makes ten thousand miles less tragic than a fic like The Days Don't End Here, My Friend. Crazy, huh?
Note: The conversation about the potential closure of LiveJournal, especially in light of the changes that have been made there, has made me worry about the preservation of a lot of older fanfiction, including this story. The link in this bookmark redirects to the original LiveJournal post, but the story in its entirety has also been backed up on the Wayback Machine. I've tried to archive it on Archive.today as well, though we'll see how that holds up

Summary
"Shane Hollander," he said. "We are lying in the very comfortable bed you bought for me to fuck you in, in the very weird condo you bought, also for me to fuck you in."
"It's an investment," Shane grumbled.
"And I have just fucked you, I think, very well," Rozanov continued. "At least I do not remember any complaints."
He swung his body easily across the bed, pinning Shane in place.
"No complaints," Shane huffed, almost a laugh. "No complaints here."
"So why the fuck," Rozanov said into the soft skin beneath Shane's ear, "are you asking me about other men?"
------
Or: Shane thinks what he needs to do is fuck another man. Just to see. Just to know. Just to test if it's only Rozanov who can make him feel this way.
But he has no idea how to go about fucking a stranger without it immediately becoming a story in the tabloids.
And he can think of only one person to ask for advice. So, in a post-coital haze, he makes the obvious move: he asks Ilya Rozanov, his extremely casual fuckbuddy, for advice on how to pick up other men.

Shane initiating this whole scenario by worrying that Ilya is the best he'll ever have, only to end up getting off to that exact idea, is, I think, the perfect encapsulation of his character. I just love him and Ilya soo much. And also, "desperately trying to pretend to be chill Shane Hollander" has got to be an official tag

This and that one Destiel fic deserve to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. They are both a testament to our creativity as a species and the indomitable will of the human spirit, and the fact that they exist is the surest sign that God is real because no amount of evolution could have deigned to create the exact circumstances that would compel someone to write anything approximating either of these

Is it wrong that I kind of love how Ilya’s reaction to everything is a spectrum of passive to active (but maybe subconscious) suicidality? If Shane’s in a torture nexus of anxiety, then Ilya’s side-by-side, trapped in his own, single-minded obsession with martyrdom. Fuck both of you, just c’mere, let me take the pain away ♡

Summary
Ilya is not going to steal Shane Hollander's dog. That would be illegal. And wrong. And someone would probably find out and make Ilya give him back.
So. Not stealing.
But there is nothing wrong with giving Chernysh all the pats and treats that he deserves, is there?
Nothing wrong with encouraging Chernysh to spend more and more time at Ilya's house until he doesn't even remember who Hollander is.
Because Hollander is stupid and boring and does not deserve a dog as good as Chernysh. No, he doesn't, does he? Because Chernysh is the best boy in the whole world, yes he is.

A loving, thoughtful fic about healing, and picking yourself back up, and moving forward, and going through these things together. Like this, he’s got Hollander in his grip from tip to toe. His wrists, belly, hips, all stuck steady under Ilya’s weight, and it’s not like Ilya’s never been on top before, but he’s never quite held Hollander down this way, and he’s definitely never seen Hollander go this still, this suddenly.

Bookmarker's Notes
There's a ton of stuff I love about this story. It's a bit of an AU, in the sense that some changes to the OG plot have been made to account for these slightly different versions of Ilya and Shane. I say different versions, but to be honest they feel very true to how I interpret their canon counterparts. It's an incredible character study, sad and sweet, and makes me want to shrink Ilya and put him in my pocket for safekeeping, though it's all okay in the end because Shane's got him, after all :)
Also, there's this paragraph of Ilya's almost stream-of-conscience rambling that I LOVE:
The roof, he thinks inanely, and his throat aches for fresh air and moonlight. How small the world would look below, small and stupid, a single step all it would take to close the door on this sorry fucking farce of the past seven years. Just to think about it calms, just to know it’s an option. Wouldn’t really do it, of course. No. Not unless he couldn’t help it. Stars and moonlight. Fresh air on the roof. Yes. He just needs to see it, and he’ll feel better.

It doesn’t take Ilya long; he was worked up already. And the knowledge that this is the bot that so often bested him on the ice, about whom a commentator once said “matches Rozanov in everything and beats him with the cool head advantage,” makes everything hotter. His supplication for Ilya. Taking orders. Ilya always thought sex with a robot would feel like that in a cold, abject way. He likes push and pull with girls especially, he likes when they obviously want it. But the bot – Shane – does suck dick like he wants it; like he needs it, really.

Bookmarker's Notes
Shane is a robot built for hockey, engineered to be an adversary to the very human Ilya, who himself is tailored to act and react in accordance to Shane's mannerisms; a continuous self-perpetuating loop
Longer review below
I enjoyed this a ton, especially Ilya’s POV. OP writes him as someone who lived according to the expectations and praise of everyone around him, until an injury took him out of the game. HockeyPlayer!Ilya fed off fame and attention—both good and bad—even though he never really seemed to enjoy it, and WashedUp!Ilya is no different; left existing in the shadow of what he had been and never will be again. The whole concept has the potential to be very angsty, though selfishly, I’m thankful OP keeps the mood fairly light without trivializing any of it.
I don’t know. I just really adore Ilya’s characterisation and the way he felt and experienced the world around him with this detached, self-hating, but not overly indulgent, masochistic misery. It's a wonderful story, and definitely one I'll be returning to again and again
Thank you, emotionsandphenomena ♡

Cliff was standing in the cracked out parking lot of a motel off the i-89 watching Roz chainsmoke his way through half a pack of smokes. It was raining and Roz’s hair was soaked, the curls plastered across the front of his forehead and dripping water into his eyes. Summary
And it was nice, having someone who distilled every action so completely it was almost binary: you are doing this for hockey, or you are doing this for Shane. The choice was simple. But it didn’t stop him from wondering on occasion if he had made his life smaller. The thought kept him up at night like the sound of Shane’s voice when they’d sat at the table with his parents for the first time—he’s trying to be loyal to me, not Boston. The terror of thinking he had betrayed himself balanced perfectly by the thrill of knowing Shane liked it. Total equilibrium.
