Steve Harrington never planned for Eddie Munson.
Steve was supposed to marry his high school sweetheart, have 2.5 children, and take over the family business. He was supposed to live a blissful life on a nondescript cul-de-sac, complete with a white picket fence and a closet full of tasteful polo shirts. He was supposed to make a graceful transition between being the golden boy and being the American Dream.
Mediocrity was what destiny had designed for Steve. Reality had other plans.

Munson rolls his eyes. “The party, Harrington. I thought you’d still be at the party with Wheeler.”
“How’d you know about the party?” It’s easier than talking about Nancy, than thinking about Nancy, than bullshit and like we’re in love and–
“Oh, I’m your supplier, your majesty.” Munson folds over himself, sweeping his arm out in a sloppy bow.
“Right,” Steve says dryly. “How could I forget.”
Munson tsks, voice jovial, posture remaining relaxed and open but there’s something jagged around the edges of him now. “No need to sound so disappointed. We weren’t all born with a silver fucking spoon.”
Steve feels his low-boiling hurt and irritation crest and spill over. “You ever get dizzy up on that high horse, Munson?”

At those two words that little flicker becomes a flame- No, a whole god damn forest fire. Steve quickly averts his gaze, looking down at his lap as a wave of heat surges through his body, lighting him up from the inside and leaving him feeling flushed.

Eddie’s eyes slide over to Steve. “…How?”
Steve shrugs. “I could give you a massage.”
Eddie blinks at him. “You wouldn’t find it weird?”
“The guys all used to do it for each other after games or a harsh workout. I know what I’m doing.” Steve raises his hands and wiggles his fingers around.
The whole room is warm, steamy, filling everything up with a haze that Eddie blames for getting to his head and allowing him to say, “Yeah, alright.”

The kiss is brief, only a second or two, not even long enough for Steve to really register what's happening before Eddie pulls away. Steve’s frozen in place, his arms still wrapped around Eddie.
Steve blinks down at him. "What?" he says stupidly. What?
Eddie closes his eyes, a weak smile on his lips. "Something to remember me by."
"You're not dying," Steve says. It feels like his mouth isn't attached to his brain anymore; the inside of his head is a dial tone.
"Of course I am," Eddie says, eyes still closed. "I'm dying right now."
"You're not, though." His voice keeps getting higher, for some reason. "You're not going to die here."
"Spare me the pity, Harrington, I know—"
"You're literally not dying right now." His whole body is hot. Is he sweating? "You lost some blood but they didn't get deep enough—I looked—you're going to be fine."
There's a pause. "I'm going to be fine?" Eddie asks, voice also going high and thin. "You're—sure?"
"Yes."
"Fascinating. Great. Are you—could you do me a favor, then, and maybe just—leave me here anyway?"
"What?" Steve says. The dial tone gets louder. "No. Why?"
"No reason," Eddie says, voice tight.

He's flushed when he pulls away from Vash, hair a mess thanks to Vash’s hand still curled around the locks, lips spit slicked and bitten raw. "Vash," he whispers, a rare treat, and Vash swoops down to kiss him again. Before he can claim his prize, he’s stopped by a hand on his chest. "Put your gun in me."
