Summary
Francesca loved John. He was kind. He understood her silence, never thinking less of her for it. She loved him.
She reminded herself of this when he kissed her. When he touched her. When he moved inside her. She loved him.
She sometimes heard her mother's voice in her head. Saw her disapproving face.
"I just want you to have what your father and I had, Francesca. I want you to be in love."
She felt like a child being scolded for failing a test she had studied for. Love was an abstraction. Something people pointed to and expected her to believe in without evidence. She was not fickle. She didn't lean on subjectivity that bore no witness. She demonstrated her love. She was supportive. She gave of herself—her body, her time. She was devoted.
And yet, it counted for nothing.
Still, she was wrong.
OR:
Michaela moves in with her cousin's girlfriend in London while he's away on a work assignment. They're both gay. They're both trying to hold it together. How long till everything implodes?

Summary
Korra feels like she owes it to Asami- her long-time best friend - to be completely honest about who she is, but she doesn't want to ruin what they have. A fic about how hard self-acceptance can be sometimes, but that it's endlessly important to be able to love the person you see the mirror
