In 1983, William Byers goes missing. His body is never found and what happened to him is pronounced a mystery. The sleepy town of Hawkins moves on along with his deadbeat father, no friends or family to miss him.
A week later, he wakes up. Decades later, he wakes up.
It is the future, but for him it has only been days. A group of strangers- specifically a girl with a dark smear of blood across her nose- has brought him back, or rather, forward. And they need his help. With what finally feels like family, finding a mother in the form of Joyce Hopper, and a sister within the peculiar girl Eleven, Will can't help but be glad he wasn't found. Even when the upside down and the creatures in it promise danger at every turn.
He's especially glad when Mike, a beautiful boy with dark eyes, is always there to catch him when he falls.

Summary
Some things get worse before they get better. Some things just get worse.
Will Byers falls between the cracks of a universe. Jim Hopper and the Maldonado family house a girl who knows more about alternate dimensions than she understands how to speak. Nancy Wheeler is going to find her best friend, no matter what it takes. Mike Wheeler is worried about his sister. Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, and (begrudgingly) Max Mayfield are worried about Mike.
These things will all come together, in time.

She checks again, and yeah, Will is holding a stuffed bear, not a cat. The beloved Tiggy stays firmly attached to his bag, so they aren’t playing with tigers, either.
“So they go back down the mountain, and now all the village people are asking them about the crystal, and Rory is sad thinking they didn’t get it that whole time, but then–”
“Meow. Meow,” Will declares, removing the teddy from the dinosaur’s back and making it do some sort of interpretive dance.

Summary
“Friends don’t lie?” It’s a callback, an ancient one, a pinky-promise made between two children at the dead of night, one passed on to their other friends, one that hasn’t been followed for a long time.
“Yeah. Yeah, friends don’t lie. I promise I won’t,” Mike vows, holding onto Will impossibly tighter, like he can speak it into being.
“Okay,” Will whispers, sounding suspiciously choked up. Sad with a resigned longing that Mike doesn’t know how to soothe. “I promise, too.”

After the Byers' move into the Wheeler house and Will starts sleeping in the basement, Mike can't stop himself from hovering at the top of the stairs every time he has a nightmare. With a few bumps along the way, this somehow culminates in a whole lot of cuddling and a hell of a lot more personal introspection.

Summary
Connor has made it his mission to integrate himself harmoniously with his human colleagues now that he's returned to the DPD. After all, a good work environment only helps increase productivity and foster bonds.
His only hang-up thus far has been the notoriously unpleasant and difficult-to-work-with Gavin Reed. But after a surprisingly civil conversation he overhears between the man and Captain Fowler, he thinks he might finally have a plan to move ahead with him. It should be a simple equation.
...Right?
Or, the one where Gavin has an undiagnosed praise kink and Connor somehow Pavlov's him into accepting happiness into his life. And maybe into his own, too.

“No,” says Nines, “that’s not–” because Gavin seems to be under the impression that Nines wants to reproach him for having to leave the assignment partway through. Like that’s what’s on Nines’s mind, and not– not the way that Gavin came completely unraveled against him, with nothing but their legs tangled with each other and a hand skimming across his chest. Like Gavin thinks it’s his fault for reacting the way he did.
