“You hauntin' me, McCauley?” Hanna starts as warm fingers encircle his wrists, drawing his hands down into his lap. McCauley's hands are bigger than his own, more callused. But there's a grace to them, a precision that Hanna's ham-fisted style has never allowed. His thumbs circle Hanna's pulse, as if eager to seek out life.
“Do you want me to haunt you?” he murmurs. “Is that why I'm here? To punish you?”
"I don't regret it,” Hanna insists, but still searches the other man's downturned face, hooks taut behind his rib-bones. The intensity, the appreciation in McCauley's eyes—like Hanna's weathered forearms are as captivating as an unbreakable safe, a taunting riddle he can't solve. “I told you square, I would put you down.”

Theo doesn’t know what B-movie, monster-of-the-week bullshit the McCall pack has gotten itself entangled with, but he does know that he’s looking forward to lording over them the fact that he’s undoubtedly going to have to go help rescue whichever of the starry-eyed morons gets themselves captured or nearly killed—or both—this time. He’s already smirking to himself just thinking about it, methodically carving through another handful of the strange indistinct black things that had detached themselves from the late-afternoon shadows in his borrowed apartment, and attacked him.
Only—that isn’t how it’s going to go, he’s slowly realizing, because two of the creatures that he’d already scythed through merely reform without so much as a flinch as he watches, and throw themselves back at him.

Paul can’t get over the sensation that there are two entirely separate sets of people in the same place. One set is their physical bodies in the room, where Ringo is talking and Paul is sitting on the bed and George is watching silently and John is looking crestfallen. The other set is just four beings of consciousness, trying to communicate like they used to, through thought and through imagined bars of music, notes snatched from the ether and knocked together, or stacked on top of each other, or spread out on the floor like old photographs.
