Summary
The movie we never got. The team comes together and forms a family. They learn to work together, and communicate like adults! So if you were angry that there was never a movie of the crew coming together before they started fighting, you came to the right place.

This fic also lays in the foundation of the rest of the fics out past End Game; it takes place in June and July of 2015 and incorporates some current events. If I make it to 2020, we'll incorporate COVID, too.

Bookmarker's Notes
Ch. 5 has Thor's ballad of the Son of Coul and the BadAss Team Delta. Awesome.
On rereading, we pick up Steve's croggled refrain: "I kind of miss Nazis." -

Steve gets arrested in Ch. 11
The cinematography is awesome! And hilarious. First, the set-up: close-up of Chris and Tony.
While Steve was telling off the poor bastard in charge of getting him to sign the paperwork dropping the charges, Tony got the low-down on what was going on with Chris.
Camera gradually pans out, still focused on Chris and Tony, but now we can see Steve arguing with the bail cop in the background.
Next, Chris and Tony turn to watch Steve and the cop arguing, still in the background and not quite intelligible.“Is he always like this?” Chris asked faintly, as Steve shredded the dropped-charges paperwork, flung the pieces on the desk, and dared the cop to arrest him again.
Focus moves to Steve tearing up the papers and throwing them at the cop, and audio brings up the tail end of Steve's dare to the cop. Scene continues with Steve and Tony talking in foreground, but camera gradually pans out still farther until we can see the whole squadroom and the arm-waving arguments behind the glass window.
Tony leaned back against the desk as the charge was put through, taking in terrified cops at their desks, a couple more all screaming at each other in an office with glass walls, Steve grinning back at him, and a relieved-looking kid.
Yep. Best night in a long time.
End scene focused on Tony's smug smile.

Bookmarker's Notes
First of the series -- great fill-ins and witty banter from Sam's POV.
Ch. 7 "Sam decided he would concentrate on the caring behind the gestures, and not the insult implying he couldn't take care of himself. He also decided not to mention the assault rifle he kept under his bed."“Why is it you're so easy with Pepper and Natasha and Hill, badasses one and all, but you start stuttering around mortal women?”
Steve seemed to stop and really think about it. “Maybe because they remind me of my mother.”
Boy, there was a discussion for another day.Ch. 17:
“I think that’s Steve’s super power.” Maria told him dryly. “Getting people to do stuff they don’t want to.”
Natasha made a sound of pure annoyance.
Sam took on three helicarriers with a dusty old set of wings and two machine guns, for fuck’s sake. Before that was a kill squad including the Winter Goddamn Soldier with a utility knife. And he was moving to New York. And helping bring in an assassin who tried to kill him. More than once. Ugh.Ch. 19 The source of my head-canon that Bruce is a stoner.

Bookmarker's Notes
Bucky recovery with surprisingly well-integrated flashbacks. Good Tony characterization, too. Here is his more logical reaction to his parents' death, proving again that Civil Wars was just an excuse to get the Avengers action figures to fight each other, like Superman vs. Batman.
"No. Shut up. Listen." Tony grabs his shoulder. "My dad used to tell me stories about you, remember? Too many. I was beyond sick of them. Barnes was in a lot of those stories. Running into battle together, risking your lives to save the other, the whole spiel." He points at the door. "And five days ago, the man in there beat you so badly you'd be dead ten times over if you weren't filled with patriotic steroids." Steve doesn't know what to say, so he just keeps staring, mouth open. "They told him to kill you and he very nearly did. That tells me literally everything I need to know about how much of a choice he had, how much - how in control of himself he was, when they ordered him to kill my family."
And reminds us that Steve got a raw deal in Civil War, too -- Zola didn't tell him who killed the Starks, so he wasn't keeping a secret from Tony.

Bookmarker's Notes
Good outside-character POV and fill-in of a gap that often slides by -- between First Avenger and Avengers 1. Confusing ending, but I gather from comments that the epilogue skips to post-Endgame.
