He remembered the hydraulic press coming down, the first moment of cold, unyielding pressure, and then nothing. But he was alive. In a hospital. Which could only mean…
A laughter bubbled up through him. Even while struggling to breathe, he started cackling. So that was it, wasn’t it? The answer to all his questions. The thing he had missed. The thing that made everything he had done meaningless.
“Oma? Can you hear us?” one of the doctors asked. Kokichi abruptly stopped laughing, and finally managed to take a deep breath. Game over. Press any key to continue.
After the game, Kokichi and Kaito wake up in a world they have few to no memories of. They may not know themselves, but after what happened in the game, they know each other, and that's something to hold on to.
